Hello! :)

I'm basically a complete noob when it comes to any SEO. I've got (I think) a basic understanding of it. I've always tried to stay away from it because of the depth it can get into.

Anyways, I want some extra spending money and decided to make a website. Hopefully a pretty decent one at that. I know I need to stick with this and be serious about this one because of the money that I'd like to make... I could do all the designing myself, but we'll see how that goes.

But, to the point...
The site is going to have a large variety of things on it (all leading to an affiliate link + Google adsense ads.) I looked up an item on the AdWords keyword tool (which inspired my website) and got these results:

If the pic doesn't work, the keyword I searched got 1,000,000 global monthly searches and 135,000 local mo. searches with keyword ideas between 22k and 2.2mil global mo. searches and 246k local mo. searches.

What do ya'll think?
If I could get new products on my site like this weekly, you'd think it'd turn a pretty good profit, right? (Affiliate + Adsense profits) Thing is, the only affiliate site that I can really do something with would probably be Amazon...which doesn't really pay well. But hey, money's money, right?

Let me know what you guys think. I'd appreciate the opinion of experienced users. I can't really be that specific, but I tried as best as I could.

Thanks! :-)

I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but when you are first doing SEO it's best to start niche. What will the site be targeting keyword-wise? Do you have an exact match domain? Try and re-run your search with "exact" and then "phrase" match, not broad which is what I'm assuming your searches might be. Ranking is a complex mix of things, from on-site seo to offsite. If you read one of the many thought out and knowledge sticky threads on the forums, it should help you out a little more. Start creating, keep learning, and eventually you'll find what works for you.

Best regards!

Thing is, the site I'm thinking of really doesn't have a specific niche. Basically, I'm going to find products that are highly sought after, but have extremely little competition. They search for the product and are sent to my site. My site will have the exact product they are looking for with a short description/review of it along with affiliate links to the product itself. So, with so many different products, I can't really have a product-specific domain name.
The keyword I searched for was the exact name of a video game. It's new and has no competition. If I can find a ton of things like that I should be able to get some type of traffic/money flow...(In theory...lol.)

This is somewhat of a test website. It's just an idea. If it takes off, I'll outsource.

You forgot to mention the competition. There are tons of good keywords but the competition is real tough.
And I dont think that this keyword was left just like that.

Look at the image. All said low. And what do you mean that you don't think the keyword was left just like that? I don't understand what you're saying...

Be sure to choose your keyword and analyze it carefully.. some KW are really hard to rank.

thats ad competition and having low on that is a bad thing since means not many people want to advertise on that keyword so u often get 1c clicks

Lol exactly what I was going to post... I think he misunderstood that aspect... this was something I was confused with because once I found a low comp keyword... clicks on adsense were super low and a lot of non-relevant ads popping up....

:o lol shit...well, then how do I find the "real" competition?
