Just one of my clients sites made the jump from mid 2nd page (14) to top of the first (3) for a HIGH competition kw. I've been working on this site for around 4 months and it steadily climbed the ranks and stuck to the middle of page 2 for like a month and a half. Then I wake up this morning to a phone call from the client asking if I did something to her website because she's getting unusual amount of business.

I said "not really", then checked the serp and saw the site sitting on #3 for the main kw. I'm not getting too excited about it just yet, because I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped back down to the second page (knowing G, it might even drop further).

I've never seen a jump like that on a high competition query. Anyone experience any unusual serp jumps the past few days?

It's post penguin. How old is that domain? I recently jumped for very high competition kw from 22 to 2, and I'm still there.

Wrong Answer. Correct Answer would be "I rerouted the backlinks through the flux capacitor and soaked them in G-Juice....Expensive operation but it will be worth it"

Hah. I was just awakened from a deep sleep and couldn't really think of something clever to say.

Not if the site takes a dive down in the SERPs afterwards.

Its 2 years old. All of my other clients and personal sites are pretty much the same, and I use the same methods for them all. I read another thread about a panda update or something. Could be that?

My rankings are weird. They seem to come and go after a few days.

Especially if it takes a dive, because then she will want more flux capsitor links soaked in G juice for a nice price.

That's a good Google dance right there :) Hopefully it stays at that ranking and your client is super happy!

If the site takes a huge dive, especially if he admits to using some "special" kinds of backlinks, he'll lose a client. Who in their right mind would pay someone to deliberately penalize their own website?

Its may be google dance. my site jumps from 34 to 3 and now its again on 34 in one day.
Is your site is EMD?

You do SEO for businesses and don't know which update we are on? The new fight is against Penguins.

Google does a panda refresh that can have a new effect on websites once in a while, friend. That's what I meant, just thought it was obvious :)

But the site has not took a big dive, it has took a big increase. Cannot live you life on ifs. If it takes a dive then they may want more links to push it back forward. Do not forget these people use so called SEO experts for the simple reason that they have no clue at all.

only the time will say if it's a dance or not, so good luck and hope that is not a dance ;) your client will be very grateful
