How Ebay, Paypal & co can track your identity - local stored objects

I'm on vista and there is NO macromedia folder.

There is an Adobe but nothing as far as flash player cookies.

another thing to beware of is DOM storage objects on top of LSO as they can also track you.

Here is a plugin for FF that can deal with both types of long term cookies.
Code:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6623

thanks for that one zone,
i now have the power to be an online ninja once again!!!!:p

Are there any DOWN sides to just wipping out all flash objects and DOMs?

That "Better Privacy" plugin seems to be like sludge in the gears of my firefox performance. Anyone else experiencing this? Additionally, I don't think it's doing anything. It's supposed to delete everything at startup, but when I use explorer to browse to the FlashPlayer folder it looks like everything is still there....

I'd not remove the folders, most probably no harm will be done but there is no reason to do it.
Just use the left and right plugin on the howto site.
On the left plugin you can remove all cookies (it will remove all files)
On the right plugin you can use the checkbox and stop flash cookies for the future.

Stopping flash cookies should not have a real negative impact, paypal and ebay also work for people without flash player so they can not hit people for rejecting cookies.

I use FF2 and have no issues. I've been using this for some time. It does say compatible with 3.0x as well although I cannot vouch for it since I never tried.

So do you see all *.sol files, where the LSO cookies are stored, on your system after using this? or just that the folders remain? also what version of FF?

I use Better Privacy and it works perfect for me especially in combination with FasterFox. Give it a try ;)

Firefox plugin works very good here! I cleared all cookies, and hope I'll finally be accepted on EPN now lol (I was wondering how they kept track off me, the sneeky bastards)

Can we use individual user windows profile for each account.

I also like Better Privacy because you can set it to automatically remove LSO objects every few minutes. I have mine set to remove in two minutes so I don't have to worry about manually deleting them each time.

Is this what the advanced cookie stuffers should be looking at next to try and manipulate? Do you think affiliate tracking will head into something like this instead of standard cookies?

This doesn't affect cookie stuffing as far as I can tell.
