One keyword is Sandboxed, other are not!

I know there's no such thing as sandbox but one keyword I've been trying to rank for never came up in top100. It's indexed, sitting around 146 but in 4 months just never broke top100.

So I typed this keyword and URL into Sandbox Tester tool on searchenginegenie and it came back positive that my site was sandboxed. Being skeptical I tested a different keyword and result came back "not" sandboxed.

Not sure how accurate these tools can be but it sure did strike the spot with the two tests I did.

Question is, is there anything I can do to bring this keyword/url out of sandbox?

Does Angela/Paul still work post panda/penguin?

Try to build more raw links to that page from different kind of sources. Maybe you have used that 1 keyword to many times for that url and google may consider this overoptimization.

Try to first analyze the backlink profile of that page and if it looks natural. Also analyze competitors backlinks and see how is your site compared to theirs.

Or maybe the keyword is too competitive for your site?

Don't just shoot without knowing where. Try to pinpoint the problem and from there try to find a working solution

Angela paul stopped working a long time ago. but the links are really powerful. if you can keep them active. Don't forget about the links. make some posts / comments from your profile. it will keep your profile active.
And I think something is wrong in your process. cause if your site is not sand boxed then it shouldn't happen.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought, if sandboxed then the site shouldn't show up at all or at least not in top100. Other keywords are ranking, this one isn't. I did the usual articles, web 2.0's, backlink to tier 2 with blog posts. What I think went wrong is that there was not much anchor diversity but I didn't have direct control of what was happening, it was all outsourced.

I have a whole bunch of backlinks created to my site that are very diverse, I think I'll start pinging them - they have been lurking around since the last 4 months leading upto now, I think it should be safe to randomize the list and start pinging a few hundred a day.

same thing happened to me. 2 of my 3 targeted KWs are sitting strongly in top 3. one is at #89. I though that entire websites/urls get sandboxed, not a single KW? maybe a new Google feature?

nope. it happened a few days ago. still trying to diversify my link portfolio for this particluar url by using random anchors.

I believe you can get sandboxed for one or two overoptimized keywords. this has happpend to a few sites, what I am trying to do is diversifying by building links to other pages and different anchor text + naked url. can't tell u if it works yet.

Here's the thing. Even though homepage was being targeted by this keyword in concentration without much diversity in anchors but all inner pages were extremely diversified with over 300 keywords and then a few generics here and there.

So this is what I will try, I will build links with this keyword to inner pages and not to home page. See if I can recover it.

Take proper care. If there is a mistake with linkbuilding then correct them or you gonna lose the entire site.

Mine just bounced back by 69 positions ( I always knew this was my favourite number... ). I added 3,4 blog posts on my own blog network pointing to the given url with following anchors: naked url, visit the website and one anchor embedded in a picture (alt). I also added outgoing links (nofollow) to two of those posts: one to my own youtube video and one to the merchant site I'm promoting.

I still have one more KW for another url which has dropped recently. Doing the same thing again this time for another url.

I'll certainly try that. For now this is what I have done just a few hours ago. I changed a bit of content on the homepage, added more words and removed some keywords. I changed the sitemap.xml to site-map.xml and resubmitted it in google tool. Did some social network posts with my URL and pinged them, total of only 15 top social bookmark sites. I will give this a couple of days before trying parasitus' suggestion and report back if it works.

If all else fails, I can also try adding www. in my URL, that will completely change the homepage but still redirect from old links.

I forgot: I also submitted my url to 35-40 bookmarking sites using onlywire. Not all of my posts on my blogs have been crawled yet so it's difficult to determine what has had the biggest impact on my KWs so far. I stopped pinging my urls. Feels spammy and isn't very helpful for me anymore.

Same, used onlywire but I only submit to 15 or so because the rest are total garbage like fashion kaboodle or whatever doesn't really matter... I can generally use onllywire to get a new post indexed under 2 minutes.

Onlywire posts naked URLs but also has the option of creating short URLs. I always go with original naked URL. It works good.
