why the delay in go daddy auction sales

Hi, Iv just brought an amazing expired domain on go daddy auctions however it says domain ready in 11 days why is this?

I believe a site can be up for auction on godaddy while the owner still has time to register it. They're allowed 30 days to re-register for an additional fee, something like $70 for a year. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if they do re-register, then you don't receive it.

You're right except that the fee is $80. I just had to pay a few of those as I spaced off some renewals by not checking and updating my registered email address for one of my GD accounts.

how often do people renew a domain in the grace period iv just brought this domain for $12 and its estimated at between $3k - $5k

It probably depends on the industry. I was watching some mortgage- / real estate-related domains because of the downturn in those areas. None of about a dozen were renewed during the grace period.
