Using "editoral use only" photos on sites with adsense?

I am building a sports blog site and am looking for photos to illustrate the articles I am writing. Am I able to legally use editoral use licensed pictures for a site with adsense or clickbank on it? Say I took one of the creative commons pics from Wikipedia, could I use that?

If anyone knows I would appreciate some advice, this is uncharted territory for me.

Look up the definition of the phrase "editorial use only". It's pretty self-explanatory. The minute you've put-up an Ad-Sense ad, you've just "commercialized" your site. Maybe it's on a page-by-page basis, IDK. But Ad-Sense is pretty much the very definition of commercialization.

Look at competitor's websites, both in and outside your niche. What are they doing?

Some have images from wikipedia and some have ap/getty images. I don't know if they paid for those or not though.

How does it go for pictures I took at a game? Say I took a picture of a player at a game with their uniform on, logos in the background, in the stadium. Am I able to publish that?

I've never heard of anyone being prevented from using images they've taken themselves. Think it falls under "Freedom of the Press".

I just worry that they may have an issue with it because of the logo. I have a picture of myself in a jersey and I am reluctant to publish it on that site because of the jersey.
I just really want to know before I publish anything. I don't want any beef with them.

If it is licensed under Creative Commons with Commercial Intent, you are good to go. You can also use Flickr's advanced search to find Creative Commons licensed assets that can be used for commercial purposes.

Once you are not trying to make it look as if you are endorsed or recommended by the advertisers/teams involved then there should not be a problem. Your own photos are your own property

And I would approach owners of similiar sports type blogs in your niche and see if you can all start to pool your photographs and allow use between your network members. Using photos with accreditation or anchor text in the alt tags would give you all some links which are relevent to your niche.
