Found a abandoned Kitten!

I would really suggest you get her checked out by a vet and get her shots. Also take a blood test to find out if she has feline leukemia or FIV (feline AIDS). She will need to be deflead, dewormed, and a wash for ear mites. Fleas can cause worms which can make her really sick. She doesn't look to be even 8 weeks old yet, so you can't use regular flea products on her. Either her mother was killed or the kitten was abandoned by its mother. Good thing you took her in because she probably would have wound up being killed by a car. I wouldn't suggest letting her outside just keep her as an indoor cat, much safer that way if you live in a city area. If you have a facebook page you can raise money for the vet cost using chipin. Just do a google search for "chipin" and you will find the website.

Just post the link from that website onto your facebook page and then cashout with paypal.

There are many animal lovers on Facebook who would be willing to help and donate money to cover her vet bills.

If you feel that you cannot keep her then do not bring her to a shelter, it is kitten season and many shelters are overrun with cats and kittens right now. Google cat rescue groups in your area. They may be able to help.
Thank you very much for the great information! Ill make sure to get her checked, etc. :)

this kitten is so cute - man I am happy you going to keep her, because I am pretty sure you going to treat her well - cats can be true friends.

Perhaps you could get Tiger his own fan-page and make him earn his keep? :P

Also, if you need a few pointers about cats:

I read a few comments about training a kitten to go potty but the only training I know is to let them use the actual toilet. You still have to flush it yourself though.
If you get a really young kitten it sometimes has problems finding the litter box but if you apply some hormones to the box once, the problem is solved.

Cats are extremely clean and will only start to pollute the place if they feel threatened. This is one of many many reasons you should make sure the cat has a high point overlooking the whole area.

Cats can eat most things but they shouldn't eat cooked chicken bones as it can be extremely sharp and rip their guts out. Same applies to dogs btw.
Also, don't give it milk. At all. Lots of people do but it's poison to them just like chocolate is to dogs.

I don't believe in buying toys but if your cat stays inside all the time you should get it something to sharpen its nails on.
You might also want to get a water-gun. Reds a wilder than others in my experience. lol

On a side note, pets reduce stress and high blood pressure. ;)

Anyways, I hope this helps and you keep the kitten.

Thanks for the share, I needed a feel good story. :)

I think its a great idea - I think tiger got already a lot fans on BHW (including me) :P - and btw I bet a Donate-Paypal button is a good way, I'm pretty sure a few ppl on BHW are willing to give tiger a little support

Thank you very much! Appreciate it big time! Great information :)

craigslist is a good place for finding the kitten a home. Here is one piece of advice though: When using craigslist ALWAYS charge a rehoming fee. just something like $25. This will keep the people that are looking for free food for their pythons and boas away. last year I found a kitten too. it was cute and all but I have allergies so keeping it wasn't a posibility. I just asked the new owner to bring a money order made out to my local SPCA. This way they didnt think I was trying to scam them out of money. I then sent the money order to the shelter and now I am pretty sure the little guy didnt end up on a python's dinner table.

Good luck with it whether you choose to keep it or give it away. Cats are cheap. Kittens are expensive - shots, getting them fixed, etc.

Sorry I am not sure where you are from, but I live in Kansas City and there are these animal clinics around the city. You can bring the abandon kitty in and they will give a clean bill of health, so like shots, fixed, flea/tick medicine, ect... For a really low price like $25. Sometime they will give you free food to take home too. You should try looking online for those types of places in your city. I have 3 cats that I have all adopted and one stray I feed outside. They grow on you really fast. Good Luck! LMK if you have any questions!!

idk if all, but there is still tons of kill shelters in the US that will just kill healthy animals after a certain amount of time has passed. so its a good thing you kept the kitten. have a great day.

So cute >__<!!
I had a kitten once but I gave it to my old folks (they felt in love with her and I couldn't say no).

Take care of Tiger man!

All I have to say, is put yourself in that kittens position.
Out there in the weather, finally having a home, being chased, beaten(possibly) in other fights with cats. Then finally being able to have food and water, a safe environment, and most of all - being loved, being able to rest and not have to worry about someone harming her.

Personally, if I where you, I would make myself afford it, grind that little bit harder, because in the end, your saving a life. Big or small, a life is a life. The little kitten has feelings, and I'm sure it wants to be loved are cared for. I personally took in a few abandoned cats over the years just out of the kindness of my heart, and you know what? Their the best cats in the world, because 9 out of 10 they know what it's like to be beaten and mis-treated, abused, not have (clean)food or (clean)water, go for days on end without eating or drinking, in the heat of summer and cold of winter. They are happy to finally have a place to call home, and finally be able to be a part of a family. I personally donate money to the ASPCA / animal shelters.
