will facebook die out soon like myspace did?

If you see a button from a social media site they are tracking you if you are logged in or have a cookie. People that understand that will stay away and those who do will stay.

It's kind of a test at this point but it should be really interesting to see it play out.

MySpace only died because Facebook came around and was much better. It was in the early days and at the time people were happy to switch. Similar to how Google captured the search engine market. Sure Facebook isn't invincible but it would be hard to beat. The main thing in their favour is the number of users that they have.

I think the social media site that has more problems is LinkedIn. It hasn't moved on and doesn't really do anything. Sure they have monetised it but this doesn't help users... I bet the number of users vs active users would be shocking

There is no point in a social networking site unless your friends are on there to see the shit you post. So unless you can get 500 million people to all do the same thing at the same time, im afraid to say that Facebook will go on for a long time.

Many people spit their dummies out and close their Facebook account for some reason, but they soon come crawling back with their tail between their legs. They do this simply because they dont like to miss out on what their friends are doing, its basic human nature to be curious.

1) It slow to load
2) A lot of mp3 automatically running , when we open any one's profile
3) Huge spam like message sending, bulletin posting, comment posting
4) No online chat facility initially
5) A lot of unnecessary customization
6) Totally dedicated to music industry

Facebook Get Success:
1) Much faster to load
2) A lot of good application to interact with friends
3) Not much customization
4) Good privacy setting
5) Online chat facility
6) Dedicated to young mass of 13-25
7) Not related to any specific niches or industry.
8) Auto spam filter for message sending, friend adding, wall posting, which reduce spam content much less
9) Only event invitation making spam issue, later facebook turn that to notification to reduce spam

There's always going to be new young people ready to hand all their personal info over to facebook. I cancelled my account for different reasons though. Facebook stays for a long time.

It can be over taken. I have had a few ideas for a few years, but it would take a few people who knew what they were doing. Ideally, its a matter of hitting facebook hard with what they don't offer, along with offering something completely new.

hard to say. i think myspace was the first site of its kind... correct me if im wrong, but when that came out it was 'original' in a sense. then facebook came.. and honestly i had no interest in it, i thought it was stupid and a ripoff of myspace, so i stayed on myspace. soon enough i did join facebook and as of today i probably checked my myspace 2 times the past 4 years.. 'just because'. so who knows.. i never expected facebook to come along, and im sure theres plenty of ppl working on social networks right now just trying to web out ideas 'what does facebook not have that I can add'. i think theres a certain level of comfortability on facebook now tho, its so easy to use and more simplified than myspace... if another social networking site came out i dont think ppl would just leave fb because theres so much attachment. its been more successful than myspace so far in my opinion.. and its almost because a standard in ppls lives. i mean jeesh i see 48 year old women and men alike who talk about every aspect of their day.. things u wud only expect a teen whose crying for attention to do. its habit forming for some ppl, i think theyre a little too attached now to just join another site that is testing its waters.

In my opinion Facebook has more chances of surviving longer than Myspace and others because of two things: the apps (games mainly) and the deals it has with other big companies such as Microsoft (through Bing search).
Both of these factors make Facebook a financially viable company and as long as they keep innovating, I think they still have many successful years ahead.
