How do you manage your clients passwords?

What are the best practices when managing passwords for clients?

I just use excel. I have a Clients excel sheet and then I just put them in comments.

I prefer to store account details in Excel and password protect the file. The clients also are comfortable using Excel.

Your best bet is to get a real membership software like amember or WHMCS... it does cost some money but makes life A LOT easier.

I've got WHMCS so that solves storing their details but I'd also like to store their passwords and for this I use notepad because it's nice and simple.

I was wondering what everyone else uses and I guess I will continue using WHMCS and add Excel to store their passwords instead of Notepad.

On a side note, WHMCS rocks!

I would recommend you to take a look at KeyPass software.
Its free? and safe, i sure use in my work alot for managing serverpasswords etc.

KeePass is the best tool for that . You can organize everything...

KeePass looks very pleasing, especially because it's got an export feature. I think I'll be using this instead of Excel but will first do my research to find out how safe this software is. Thanks a lot guys, this is definitely very helpful!

I'm not scared about someone hacking them. I need something that will be somewhat secure and user friendly. Storing passwords on paper can get tiresome if you have to use them every now and then, and if someone breaks in to your place they can easily steal this.

best to hash passwords using a hashing scheme with as few collision problems as possible before storing them. storing as plaintext is just asking for something bad to happen to them.

I have also WHMCS but it remains better to have everything easy to reach.

So i have a PC with little activity to store passwords in an excel sheet, CBA with hash or so.
