If you want instant results go with PPC and/or PPV. Make sure your Google Analytics/Webmaster tools Bing/Yahoo Tools too. Traffic reported through these items gives them proof and thus establishes if your on topic or not. Why not get the SEO value from your paid advertising?

This is actually a good source of information. Here's my take on high traffic and its not easy
Create unique articles on high pr article sites with anchor texts to your money site
Create EDU and Gov backlinks
Create a lot of video's and post them to video sites and include your url in the description
Backlink your article sites with blogs, forum profiles, web20 ect
Ping new content and submit them to all search engines
Social Bookmarks
Facebook fan page
Twitter
create additional blog sites, create unique content and always anchor text your money site
PPC
Wear t-shirts that say your url
Make a big bumber sticker with your url
