FINAL REVIEW:
Horrible snafu with URLs not matching the anchor text provided on a significant percentage of these orders.
Tom honestly, and forthrightly, admitted to the mistakes made - then fixed them as best as they could have been fixed.
While I am pretty convinced that 'permanent' damage has been done to the affected sites, I'm not upset. The reason being that the mistakes were acknowledged and (verbal) responsibility was taken for them. Which, for anyone who has been doing this SEO outsourcing thing for any length of time, is something that just does not happen: 99% of the time, the proverbial buck is passed, untenable reasons are given and a veritable river of bullshit starts to flow. Tom did not do this and it is appreciated.
All this being said, I will not be able to order any of Tom's services in the future, including this one; which is a shame, really, given that we outsource right around $23K/month of work.
1.) From any and all reasonable perspectives, there is no reason why the mistakes made should have taken place: I asked for nothing that a trained monkey couldn't handle, and that's not hyperbole.
2.) While the mistakes were fixed, anyone who might view the entirety of the dynamic would see that a refund for the sites on which the mistakes were made was in order: None was offered.
3.) Site recovery from careless link-building mistakes are WAY more difficult to recover from than anything else once screwed up links have been crawled and evaluated by Google. This is something that every veteran SEO knows.
FLIP SIDE TO THE COIN:
The orders that were not fucked up all experienced positive movement. So there's that.
All the best,
