hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to SEO and am currently setting up an online webstore while promoting other peoples webstores. I have heard the words "link building" so many times but have NO IDEA where to start with link building. Can anyone help?
My strengths lie in content writing - I can write well but don't know how to use this to my best advantage with the blog back link thing.

Thanks :)

From social bookmarking and then article submission..

If you are good at writing content, then I would start creating web 2.0 (blogs) pages. Search for Phpbuilt using the search and look for his thread with the Web 2.0 diagram/list. Simply register on these sites with a new email address, make up the contact info, and post a blog post with relevant content to your site. Try to make it look like a real blog though, and not spam. Put a link to your website in the blog at some point. Remember to vary your anchor text. This is how I believe you should start your linkbuilding.

Give Social signal to your site by Social bookmarking, twitter etc to get authority then move to deep linkbuilding strategies :)

That is good you are writer because content is king, when you use unique content with keyword that is generate more traffic and fast indexing. For promotion many way are available free and paid, I will suggest you, you start with free, firstly creating short discretion about your products and start directory submission and social bookmarking manually that's give you good results then start PDF submission that's new seo strategies.

Can you provide a little more info into your strategy here? How do you link build the links you've created with the methods above?

Then do you blast those social bookmarking links with anything, ie: scrapebox?

I will never encourage the use of paid link campaigns or link farms, but I do recognise that in today's internet you need great links from great sources. So where do you start?

  1. When you have decided on your primary keyword, "Google it" make a list of the main players in that particular market (the top 10)
  2. Visit the free SEOMoz linkscape tool from here you can type in your main competitors URL and perform a basic inbound link analysis for their domain.
  3. From the report you will be able to identify the source of all their inbound links and start to formulate a plan on how you can begin to emulate their success.
The first few times you do this I am confident that you will say to yourself "is that all they have done"

I appreciate that there is a lot more to link building but I think this a great way for beginners to get into the link building mindset.
