Wordpress Site Structure Advice Needed!

Hey everyone,

So im in the process of creating a new niche site. the purpose of this site is to be an an affiliate site. as such i will be pushing people thoughout my posts and pages to look and buy the products im promoting.

I have 3 main problems:
- where do i put my articles and content?
- what should i put on the home page?
- any other ideas changes you can think of to help?


this is what i was thinking in terms of structure of the top bar menu:

Home | About me | ...... | Recommended products


Home page: thinking it should be a static page and i should explain to the visitor how to use the site (read my story ->read up info -> buy stuff) open to suggestions here
about me: yada yada yada my story & stick in link to recommended products teehee
...........: content, how do i organize it? i will basically get articles written for me about the niche. so i will have posts and categories but i dont know how to organize them.
recommended products: 3 products on this page in a ranking. why i ranked them there. each product will have link to its very own page where i review it


wish i could be more clear about the content issue. i just dont know how to put my posts in a way that will help push visitors to the recommended products page.
the only thing i can think of is a page "articles" or "information center" and just putting it all in there chronologically like an oldschool blog but that's stupid and inefficient.

any ideas?

The only thing I can recommend are categories & tags. Then having all the articles on one big page called ... "Articles"

Some silo structure would work. Here's an example:

Weight loss niche

nutrition subniche
nutrition article 1
nutrition article 2
nutrition article 3
....

fitness subniche
jogging article 1
bodybuilding article 2
stretching article 3
...

Also, be sure to have a blog so new blog posts point to your articles.

Will you allow comments on your articles? If it's a review article, get 2-3 blog comments fraternizing with the review then close the comments!

Create as many articles as you can.. Create Categories, and do posts relevant to those categories... and I AGree with DONOR

okay so hold on, lets say i make a page that says "articles" and on that page i list the titles of what i deem to be "the best" articles as links, and that page is all organized and awesome.

now, for the other articles (what im hoping will add up to 100+ over time) where do i stick them?
also i do realize i need to get experimenting and actually do it. but im just hoping someone can save me the trouble if you have done

also, the comment idea is great, i was just going to disable them because i dont want to deal with spam.

You know your websites category... check out the competition at the top. What are they doing in terms of organization, what keywords are they targeting. You should go about your site in terms of how to re-up the ante and beat out your competition with better services, better content, and better work all around.
