Best method for transferring money that's not paypal?

Currently I do business through paypal. All orders are under $1,000, but I'm looking to make bulk sales that could go over $10,000. This is with an intangible product I cannot prove shipping with. I have already had some smaller orders charge-back or claim unauthorized purchase, and it was too bad for me. I don't want that happening on a bulk sized order.

I'm thinking a bank transfer would be the best method to protect myself from getting charge-backs and unauthorized purchases. They can be slow and I'm not sure the fees on international transfers (checking with my bank tomorrow).

Are there any other payment processors you could recommend? One that would protect me, hopefully low fees, and would be quicker than the bank transfer?

Thanks.

You need a merchant account. I would recommend you checkout PayGear as they can supply you with the lowest fees merchant account anywhere plus they offer full affiliate management.

And how exactly does PayGear offer the protection I am looking for? If someone does a chargeback, PayGear doesn't take the money from me?

I already use E-Junkie, which seems to be the same thing as PayGear, just a method to have a shopping cart and affiliates. That is not what I am looking for. A search of the forums, also shows the only person mentioning PayGear, is you.. which seems kinda of suspicious.

I use Flagship Merchant Services, and they have great fee rates--the lowest I've seen (did a bit of research, but probably could have been more in depth if I hadn't been so time-crunched). They use authorize.net as their payment gateway, and for $10/mo they offer a feature that flags suspicious orders and allows you to manually approve them if you wish. Should help with fraudulent orders, where you'll probably wind up getting hit with a chargeback. Google around for some reviews on them and see if you think they'd be a good fit! I was approved in under 24 hours, and have been quite happy with them so far.

Thanks, they look interesting too.

I was thinking, if I just send a CD with info of the intangible good on it... and use the shipping information, I would then have sellers protection? Or ship a contract. Anything related, so I can track the shipment.

This should be feasible at least in the US if it protects me.

sorry that for the hijack but is there any merchant account that is able to cash out to moneybookers or paypal on a daily base?

i think the best method is liberty reserve or webmoney.ru but with them u will have less customers but since i understand u have 1 sell so u can force ur custmer to pay u using LR or WM good luck

i also used flagship before and they were alright. but you need to pay for the authorize.net gateway also so you have 2 monthly fees instead of one since flagship is not a gateway, they are just the payment processing bank. but you will almost never be protected if a customer goes to their credit card company and complains, it doesn't matter what payment processor you use. i recommend using bank transfer or wire transfer because your orders are so large, and it seems like you personally work close with your customers so they can trust you more. and there is no need for a payment processor unless you have an e-commerce site where random people are buying things from, but that is not needed if you have personal relationships with your customers. i recently sent a payment to a seller from india so we used xoom.com and everything was fine.

Thanks, I actually do have an e-commerce site, where random people can buy things. But this is for orders under 1k. In growing my business, I was offering larger custom orders, which is where the personal contact comes in. When I talked to my bank, they made it sound like the amount of fees involved in a transfer from another currency would be really high compared to paypal fees.

A wire transfer looks better, Xoom.com is showing a fee as low as $4.99 to send money from US to UK and the buyer pays it! But it is saying the highest you can send is $2,999 USD?

I would suggest using liberty reserve...

Once the money is sent to you, it's sent to you, period. And if you're selling some blackhat stuff it's anonymous.

all you have to do is tell whoever you are selling to, to create a liberty reserve account... they can add money to their liberty reserve account by buying liberty reserve funds from an exchanger... (they pay 10,000 for $9,800 in liberty reserve, for example)..

they send the $9,800 to you, and you send them the product.

On a 10,000 order, you'd probably have to take that $200 hit, but it shouldnt be a big deal...

only thing with liberty reserve is whoever you are dealing with has to REALLY trust you 10000% if they are going to send you that much money without getting the product first, or vice versa

Thanks, I'll look in to them. I would have a signed contract first, then money. So that may help.

I see their max fee is $2.99. Like that. Found the exchangers, do most charge 2% as you mentioned? Or depends on the exchanger and the currency being exchanged from?

Thanks a ton! Blackhatworld has brought me my most success online. :D

The exchangers fee's all depends.. they have a list on their site (they aren't affiliated with any of them though)

check out exchangezone.com ... thats a place sort of like a freelancing site or auction for buying funds... you can say you want to buy liberty reserve and pay with alertpay or western union or something and it'll tell you how much their selling for.

Trust me, I was glad to help you on this... Liberty reserve confused the hell out of me when I was first trying to research it.. but its really pretty simple..

$customer paypal / credit card etc.$ >> an exchanger >> their liberty reserve account >> your liberty reserve account >> a debit card, or various of forms you can withdraw the money from liberty reserve using an exchanger

So, yea, liberty reserve is perfect if you're going to be working close with your customers. Only reason I wouldn't wan to use it is if Im selling to a lot of people.. But even then if the service is good enough you can probably get someone to come around once you explain how liberty reserve works.

I think you should really consider using a high risk payment processor.
This way you could actually accept all major credit cards. Fight chargebacks
and stay more private. I have heard allot of good things about this one...
Google it...
highriskpay

Hey but use them at your own risk because I have not personally used them.
but you can check them out. Paypal does indeed suck.

good luck mate

Thanks, not really a fan of that idea. I have zero need to be private, I'm not selling anything blackhat. I want to present myself as trusted as possible, actually. Using a "high risk" processor, most people haven't heard of, I don't think will help that cause.

timmylang:

Been looking at LR a bit more. The process seems complex. Trying to find the right exchanger for the client, at the best rate, then trying to find the right exchanger for withdrawing the funds. Well, maybe not too complex. The client who I quoted a price too, unfortunately I left my margins too low (wasn't thinking), so finding the lowest fees possible would really help. Did see the exchangezone, possible to "make money" during the exchange, but auction style, so it takes 30 days to exchange? That's a bit slow to make a transaction with a client.

Would anyone recommend a gateway I could also put on my website? Was looking at 2co, but higher fees and many people absolutely hate them it seems. Also any other methods for sending money without the risk of chargeback like LR that could be easier for the client and hopefully low fees?

Thanks a ton. :)

While I would definitely recommend Liberty Reserve or HD-Money, you might run into issues with delays from exchangers and clients being confused with the system being somewhat complicated.

One great way is to just accept bank wires. They usually cost around $30 to send and take 2 to 5 days to arrive. Sure thats a bit of time, but no longer than it would take to withdraw Paypal or use an exchanger to cashout LR.

The best part is that wires aren't reversible, unless you give your bank permission. Generally speaking they're one of the easiest alternatives, and if you're the one receiving you won't be hit with huge fees like you will with Paypal.

Why you dont opt in for moneybookers business account, they have very lowest fee in the market. They have gateway as well. They fight for chargebacks.

Liberty Reserve is a Very complex process, not a standard business company, which can go like egold. I would say moneybookers, or own credit card accepted gateway, which you can have authority to charge.

If you go to lot of merchants, they charge highest fee. But if you have own machine, you can able to save money.

I use scene premiere . Skype scene.premiere or info (at) scenepremiere.com. They seem very flexable and can find a solution for anything to get paid. Rates are good as well.
