Google is launching the knowledge graph today!

so it's like their take on sort of making each search result a wiki page?

I thought that, will have to see how you can get in them results ;)

So how will that effect adwords on the right side? Or do the right side panels just appear when you hover over a search result?

This could seriously affect ctr, people are distracted very easily.

Curious,

They failed to replace Twitter,
Then they failed to replace Facebook,
Now they are trying to replace Wikipedia

I'm wondering the same thing . Wouldn't this take way from their adwords revenue ? It sounds as though search queries would be a lot more targeted but at the same time wouldn't we lose visitors to our adwords campaigns .

Since most of the data they are using comes from Wikipedia, I doubt they are trying to replace it.

Im worried but im sure it will be only for certain main topic keywords rather then local keywords? Well im hoping!

I think this is interesting.

Bing is also changing: they seem to be implementing a social sidebar that will feature (ideally relevant) FB and Twitter content.

New opportunities...
