They have officially cloned Digg in their search engines. You can now vote UP and axe sites that you like or don't like!!!!!

I am so mad.

The only saving grace of this is that it works in isolation from other users. When you make changes, it does not effect anyone else... for now, at least.

Sounds interesting, Googling it now!!!.. (adding to their PR10)

That is Google Wiki which will let users to vote up and vote down any sites.. maybe in the coming years it will take the effect but surely that sucks from the competition point of you!

this new function of Google came out just a little while ago. Right now, it only affects the user and not everyone else.

who knows though, that could change. if it does, imagine how this could affect your competition...having the power to vote down any site you wanted...

if this is going to be the same then I'm just fine n if google try's something out based on voting...may be we guys must try using bookmarking sites instead of giving much attention to keywords and should stop getting water from deserted Search engine like google...

Ohh Gosh I'm going way too long!!!

anyone needs a soothsayer???ping me up..!!!:D

i don't what you're trying to say...Google is a deserted search engine?
that's funny.

there is no way that google will fully implement this into the search engine.

If they do i cant wait!!! which is harder

1. Finding authority sites, getting links, building on page seo blah blah
2. Write a script that votes for your sites all day??

Hmmmm....

happy voting? LOL

I truly feel this as a catastrophic futuristic event that is unfolding between our own very eyes. Google please dont suck too low now please

They won't do it. it will only be a way for you to customize your search. It could be exploited way too easy.

What I meant was they would possibly avoid their dislikes and the penetration would be quite a pain in the a@& thing, and we goto try social bookmarking sites to compliment that...so, apart from my 36-40 info oriented blogs, rest of all would need some alternative to go with...

But, I'm on the other way hoping that google would never try doing this feat coz they would loose their adwords streak...so hoping they would'nt go for something that would dip them in severe shit...what say fellow BH's??

...or a script that votes against other sites all day.

so finally two scripts should be written
1. Script that Votes for Our Sites

2. Script that votes against other sites all day

May be another which would stop the counter "Votes against our sites"

Big-G haven't said anything about searchwiki influencing normal SERPs, but they haven't explicitly ruled it out either - just keeping us guessing. I read (I think on Techcrunch) that G's VP of Search was being a bit ambiguous when asked directly about it.

It would be a dumb move as any form of voting can be so easily manipulated.

why do you see this as a catastrophic event? I highly doubt this will have much effect on anything, and even if it changed the game a bit, there's always a way to get around it.

mr. cutts said a few weeks ago to wpn that personalized search was the way big G was headed. so basically, they want people to sign up for gmail accounts and the such and then tell google what they want. its good and bad, i suppose, in that people will get what they THINK is relevant (so long as they are logged in) but may hinder the google democratic idea of new ideas. we were debating at the office how much this was going to actually affect non-registered rankings, I believe it will... somewhat, but it for sure will affect anyone who is logged into google's domain. so make sure you flash some boobies to keep those male attention spans!

sincerely sometimes I feel this whole thing about search engines changing ranks, and instead of narrowing searches they are trying to endorse some sites into the search results, some irresponsive Spiders, yahoo answers getting priority in searches is a kind of juggling process just for sometime they hype stay's and they everything comes back normal...so I'll try keeping quiet when something like this happens...(What more can I do, can't hack into server's as of now)

Its like anything else they try, new, old, rehashed. It doesn't change anything.
No matter what they come up with, the brains and ingenuity of people, like a lot of the folks in here will find an angle, edge or lever to make things happen for them.
I look forward to 2009, and wish all the users (not abusers) of BHW a prosperous happy healthy New Year.

yep me too wish BHW's a Happy n prosperous New Year
