here is crazy bug at google places...

I found it out when my clients calls start to drop down
So i start looking at the Local listings and found out that the website & phone numbers changed...

I try it myself and this is crazy part...
After you get the "Local Listing verification postcard" and the listing is active, anyone with "google local listing account" (just use gmail account and login to "google.com/places") can open the listing you created (and "verified" with physical address), click "edit this place" and change phone, links, photos etc..

Google not going to verify the account again.

This is serious bug, am going to hire some India guy to change all AC repair in Miami and dominate Miami area :-D

They are not going to verify account, but changes you will make on different pages won't go public without verification ;)

I looked into this and I'm pretty sure it says that edits have to be confirmed by the owner ...

no one send me email when my accounts changed.
i try it myself it take few days but it working 100%

OK
I checked it again
had 1 listing I did few mo. ago but they closed..
so I logged in to the email account attached to this account.
with proxy I logged in to google places with diff. account and changed info - website, and phone.
Changes took place and listing have new info. now
But no email hit the inbox that i use to open this account say "need to verify changes" or something like that.

This is BUG!

Well it will be patched before I can drink a 6 pack!! If I was you I would edit this thread and remove the info. Things like this I use to bank then once iv made a set figure I will release it.

Just my 10 cents worth.

Yes i would delete this quick and make some serious chedder if you can do it for me ill pay you. I own lead generation company so i could sell the inbound calls for a shit load of money.

Only has to be owner verified? Or how do you tell it has been address verified?

This should not be delete if there are such bug. Also i suppose this would not be shared if that was working :d

Tried this little trick but it doesn't seem to work.

still working like charm!

only change i see is that some listing "keep" the old info and mix it with the new info.
so i pass it buy upload pictures with my customer 800 number on them
;-)

Hi OP,
it appears this is not abug but a "community edit" and completely fine with Google.
However if you change info on a already "verified" place page then the owner of that place page receives an email asking for "authorisation" of the change. If no objection is made then the change goes ahead.

In your case I think that you have edited place pages where the business owner has not really been paying attention/checking their email from which they signed up to G places.

Question: how many times did you try this? 1, 2 or many times?

I am trying this out on multiple listings will post back results....some have worked (chanaged) and some have not.
I reckon the ones that have changed are becoz the owners of the listings do not really monitor the email address.

what do you think OP?

anybody else tested this further?

Why not just create listings with a fake address and a phone # you can forward? If you do it the way I do, they stick and you get ALL the calls forever. Do like 4-5 in one city so you own the entire Places pack. You get all the phone calls. ;)

Much better than a short term edit that's only going to get deleted. Plus, you fly under the radar with your own listing.
