If you can get away with it . For example this forum, we seem to get away with it, if people complain it gets removed. What I think would work well, is you have a private members download area then you just put it up there make sure it is a good crack though.

Here's the facts: Illegal distribution of software can subject a seller to be arrested on felony charges with fines up to US$250,000 and prison terms of up to 5 years. You are also liable for Civil penalties which can easily end up in the millions.

I hate to always be the "downer" here but people (in general) just seem to not know anything when it comes to basic laws.

Is it a good idea to give away something of (perceived) value?. Of course.

I believe Russia is one and possibly China. Without searching online, I couldn't tell you for sure.

There are a lot easier ways to make money.

I'm pretty sure every SEO membership site out there is breaking hundreds of copyright laws. If you go ahead with it, I'd try recruiting members rather than having an open door policy. Look for a piece of software everyone wants and use that to entice members, maybe even look for demand in the market and pay someone to build/write a script.

Not a good idea, also you're only cheating yourself by not training yourself to use better methods to make cash. You'd be depending on the success of those hard-working programmers, and it's NEVER a good idea to become dependent, and not to mention the obvious that this is illegal -- do as thy wilt, you're also putting your innocent members at risk for your faults -- possibly legally and also to the exposure of malicious code. Too many ways to backfire and it already crosses the line.
