Will unsubscribing to spam mail. give more spam?

ive been thinking about this for a while, my gmail account get alot of spam, which google filters out ofcource. but in many of these mail there is a link to "unsub for these mails in the future"
i have tried this a couple of times, and i often just get to a normal unsub window which tells me im unsubbed.

so my questions is: as title says, will this just generate more spam mail (since now i actually confirm to them that im a person by clicking it)

My 2 cents is: if it's a legit company then unsub. If its some sleazy link where they lie about who they are, don't.

Thats pretty much the answer, there is no blanket rule for this..

mind you if you hover over the unsub link and its using a service (like aweber etc) then definitely click it imho, some mailing services also have the ability to report as spam.
