is it worth trying to rank EMDs with the latest Google update? have you guys tried after recent G update? how it goes?

I am about to open a similar thread. I noticed that EMD no longer works. I've done some searching these days and found that for some of the keywords the 1st position url does not even have any keyword match on it, they don't have it even in url, so domain of coz not.
Those people buying a bunch of EMD to sit on it and resell are going to lose a lot I guess.

But still, having your keyword in your domain can help you rank, maybe on the first few pages, but def not the first few position again.

This is the observation I notice, any of you see the similar things?

i have fond that one of my EMD has now started ranking no 4 after the update, it has a clean install of WP on it and no posts & no seo has been done it and it it about a year old.

My EMD Micro Niche Sites Ranks #1 in google ..I think because i never used Black hat for MNS

I have about 150 EMD's

the ones that have had alot of Seo have started to drop - while the ones with just a little
Seo are rising.

So there definately is a filter for EMD's at the moment but it's also the link quality / profile
of the site..... funnily enough overall my sites are very diversified and daily sales are actually
rising.... but I won't be adding EMD's in the future - will be changing approach.

"Definitely"? Huh? From the information you provided, the only thing we know for sure is: sites that had an artificially higher position in the SERPs due to massive amounts of SEO are going backwards. (This concurs with what everyone else is seeing.) I am not saying you are wrong but I also don't see any evidence EMDs are actually hurting a site's ranking.

My 10 year old non EMD dropped domain is ranking 3rd for a 3k exact match keyword and outranked two EMDs which are also in top 10. Also the article on my dropped domain is the worst quality possible, it contains no targeted keywords, I did no on-page seo at all on my site, all I did is I added the targeted keyword to the page title.

keep updated your website with quality content as long as you can, one of the important ranking factor nowadays.

Yes, thats may be true. Some of my friends web sites have gone up in rankings. most of them have not done any SEO for their web sites. but my problem is how long will they last long like this? will big G change this algo again soon?

I have an EMD domain that oscillates between below 100 and number 4 or 5 on the first page. All the backlinking I have done is two web 2.0 posts. Thats it, not even article directory submissions.

Hopefully it'll stabilize. Its weird, I'll look it up on my keyword tool and its no. 4 and then a few hours later its dropped off completely.

I have three EMD domains and they rank on 1st page's 1st and 2nd position.
1st is having 8k+ Exact search volume which has 13 Unique articles and ranking on 1st position and another one is having 1500+ Exact search volume and thats on 2nd position which is below wikipedia site.

The 1st one just got PR 1 also without any backlinks creation within 3 months. i have shared few links on social networking sites and bookmarking sites.

So, basically you need quality content 1st.

Just my experience.
