A quick warning about VPS

Had a member PM me that they were struggling with using SENukeX on their server. Failure rate was about 80% and "What am I doing wrong"?
I wasn't that interested in helping - I knew it would take time, but he convinced me to take a look.

I logged on to his VPS and mooched about. Spun a quick scraped article and tried to create accounts and submit.
It was a total mess. Article span, software crashed. restarted, gave up on spinning and set it to do a simple submit with one link on list of 30 WEB2 sites
It failed 24 out of 30 straight off the bat.

Then I looked for why this was. I used this software on Vixens PC only yesterday and was getting about 75% or 80% success.
Proxies checked out ok
Internet connection pinged from test servers quick and had a ton of bandwidth.
Captcha solving service returned correct results

Then something caught my eye.

The version of SENuke installed was a version that was updated in November 2011 and as anyone who uses the software knows it's been updated many times since then
It wouldn't post because the definition files were months out of date.

I told the guy this - and he gave me a load of abuse, telling me it wasn't out of date, so I told him to log onto the Nuke's site's forums and check for himself.
That was about 5 hours ago and I've not heard back from him.

No names - no pack-drill. Dunno if all "Free software on a VPS site" are like this - but this one was a rip off.
Ripping off the devs we rely on to make this software, then ripping off the BHW users with promises of software that just plain doesn't work.
This is the first time I thought of bringing the "C" word out of the armoury - but I won't

Mad at wasting my time
Mad at being called a liar by some poor sod who wasted $60 or whatever on a VPS full of toys that barely work and now is full of righteous indignation (being ripped off by the guys who were helping him rip someone else off..who said there was honor among thieves)

Calm now.

No moral in this tale.
This is BHW and you're all big boys here and can look after yourselves and make your own decisions.

Yep several VPS sellers use pre-installed SEO tools that are cracked versions (probably to save costs) and these VPS are bought by noobs who don't know better - They don't understand the importance of regular updates from genuine software.

The guy you mention sounds like an arsehole... You took your time to help him, and now he's abusing you for pointing out the truth. Shooting the messenger. I guess that the truth hurts and ignorance is bliss...

Yeah I guessed.
I didn't realise at all that the VPS I was on was fron one of those "free tools" sites till I had almost finished investigating. It's only when he replied with abuse and named the company that I worked out that it was. I told him it was a nulled version and was way out of date, and he blew, called me a "lying c^%&" etc.

I lol'd and told him to grow up and check Nuke's site for the version update history - not heard from him since.
I don't feel sorry for him - he knew he was party to a rip off, and got ripped off himself - got what he deserved. But I woulda been at least sympathetic if he hadn't gone off on me.

It was a case of "shooting the messenger" I think.

Still - an object lesson in trust for me - anyone else can take whatever the hell they want to out of it.

Senuke prints the version details on the default window (most recent is 2.5.14) so this shouldn't have even been a debate. If he's using a version from 2.4.x he will soon not be able to use it at all with DeathByCaptcha since they're moving from DeathByCaptcha.com to DeathByCaptcha.eu.

Yeah - it was staring me in the face the whole time. But as I'm not a regular user of Nuke I overlooked it.
It's updated all the time - several times a month, so I'm guessing this version (and it was 2.4.somethng) was was maybe 15 or 20 revisions out of date.
So not only was it a hacked version of the software - it was a REAL OLD hacked version of the software. But you get a VPS with this on, and it's not going to update by the looks of it. It's updated by the server at wherever that is, and each license key has to be verified by user name and IP and can only be updated once that's done.

I suppose the people that run these flakey services have to keep hunting for hacked versions that are newer.
If your serious about productivity, just buy the frikkin thing. I couldn't be doing with messing around with software that hardly works - though I've already had a PM from someone who runs one of these services saying that his is 100% up to date all the time and could I write that here.

The answer mate is NO

I'm not endorsing your possible scam. I Like this software, and if no-one pays for it, they stop developing it. It's more cost effective for me to pay $147 a month for this than to spend 50% of my time coding and recoding Zenno or Ubot to keep up to date with the changes.

I spent more time arsing around with the semi-working cracked versions (yes - even the most popular one) than i spent actually blasting with nuke. Same goes for the kitted out SEO VPS', problem after problem with the software. I bought all the licenses individually and put them all on a windows dedi from hetzner - Not looked back since!

I've got licences for everything, my time is too valuable to be fecking around with software that doesn't work.
That's not economising - that's just a total waste of time and cash.

Glad I never got involved.

I was asked by a guy to help him to setup some project..I logged into VPS he have bought got shocked..That all softs are cracked ..and most of softs not working{(90+ failure rate}...I'am not a genius in SEO..But I have enough knowledge to work with..Please guys ask some good guy in lounge which VPS is better to buy...

Yes I know - that's what this whole thread is about.
If you'd read it you'd have learned it wasn't my SenukeX and I don't have or use it - but you didn't read the thread did you?

I am just warning people that these VPS servers that offer free trools are (in my experience of 2 of them now) full of shit hacked tools that don't work very well if at all.
The owners of these crap holes are ripping off the application developers and then ripping off BHW members.

But greed will still drive people to them I'm sure.
I just won't be interested in hearing any QQ'ing from idiots who pay for this junk if they know before hand that they are likely to be a ripped off.

Very true guys. Most providers out there that offer VPS's preloaded with SEO tools are using outdated cracked software. In the end, you can usually get your own VPS without these tools and buy your own license and it will save you money while giving you a lot better results.

Wow, there are still guys like that who are using a crack version and does not know of it? SENuke X is such a great tool, it should be bought to support the developer who tried it make it good.

Not all of the VPS's use cracked. What they do is share the license with all the users on that box. That way, each user (say 9 users) does not pay a lot, and they can offer the service cheap. Also probably they go thru affil. link.

I think this one is an exception and not the rule .. if you do your due dilligence on the forum and get pre-loaded vps from a reputable co.

Yup, I've used 2 VPS providers like this in the past. The first one was BHTdownloads. After the first month it was perfectly clear to me that it's a total ripoff. All the tools on the server are cracked, but that wasn't the main problem, what they do is they introduce a new package every 15 or so, and everyone from the previous package has to switch to the new package.

There are of course many problems, they claim that they'll fix everything and that this is the last change...ever. They fix an issue or two, it works for a few days and then there is a change again, you insist on keeping the old server, they say that they will allow it but after a few days they force you onto a new server.

I wont name the second provider because I've only left them recently and while they used cracked tools as well their support was so superb that I really can't complain. I always got a reply within an hour and they really always did their best to help, you can see these things. Most people know that they will get cracked tools, that usually isn't the problem as long as the VPS works properly, it is still usable.

Yeah - I've only had experience of two of these. I know there are many more, and maybe some of them are ok
Glad to have my own tools and not have this to worry about
