Okay, I hate horror movies, but a few days ago I decided to watch one. I've seen the usual flicks, Paranormal Activity, The Strangers, Insidious and pretty much all the other movies out there. To be honest, none of them gave me any nightmares and none of them were scary. Paranormal Activity was bullshit. Don't know why everyones applauding it saying its the scariest movie out there.
One movie which did give me sleepless nights was The Last Exorcism.
I didn't really understand the movie so I thought my fellow BHW'ers can help me out.
WARNING - SPOILERS BELOW:
From what I think - Cotton is a preacher and he decides to take one last visit to a family who consists of a Dad, son and daughter and the Dad thinks his daughter is possessed by a demon or w/e. Cotton goes to the house and carries out a fake exorcism, and claims that the demon is "gone". Cotton, and his cameramen and women go back to the hotel that night to sleep and return the next morning back home. They see Nell (the girl who was supposedly possessed) sitting on the bed in Cottons room.
They go to the hospital and theres nothing wrong with her. Bla bla bla. They find out she is pregnant. The camera women thinks it's Nells Dad who raped her. Later on in the barnyard, Cotton then undergoes a real exorcism to try and remove the devil. We then hear Abalam, the devil inside, speak. Then some random shit happens.
At the end, everything is supposedly all okay. Nell tells Cotton that there was this guy from the cafe, and he made her pregnant. Cotton invites Pastor Manley over to take care of Nell. He leaves. On the way home, he sees the cafe that the boy which made Nell pregnant works in. They go in, and speak to the Boy - but they found out he is infact gay. They realise that this was all a big set up to get them out of the house.
NOW THIS IS THE PART I DON'T GET...
When they return, the house is empty and there's scribblings of symbols everywhere on the wall. They then go to the forest, and they see the Dad tied up and blindfolded. They see Nell tied on a table and what I saw was Pastor Manley, and a bunch of others people doing a ritual kinda thing around the table. Nell gives birth to a red kinda devil baby, and the Pastor throws that into the fire besides them, and this causes a bigger fire and things just get more evil-looking.
Cotton then decides to have more faith in God, and he goes to try and stop this devil from the fire. The camera pans out and goes to the camera women who is chopped up by someone, and then the camera man who is sliced by Caleb (Nells bro)
My questions..
1) Why did Caleb slice the cameraman? Was he possessed?
2) What the fuck was Pastor Manley doing at the end? Was he getting rid of the devil? If that was so, why did Cotton go to the fire and try stop it?
3) WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED IN THE ENDING? Can someone explain? I think I'm missing the main points here.
