Are usual downloads sites profitable?

Hey guys,

I am running a PPD website (like sharecash) and I'm having some success. However, I have many users asking if it is possible for me have an option for having regular downloads (show banners, users have to wait to download, etc.)

I was wondering how do regular downloads websites make money? Which advertising platforms can I use? Is this profitable?

I actually been wondering the same thing. Also whether all the advertising has much of effect considering alot of people tend to ignore on those sorts of sites.

Recently closed down website megaupload was profitable....Really profitable.
But you would have to do jail time for a couple of years for this profits...

I guess that this subject is not that straight forward, but we are not discussing the legal issue, but the advertising and earnings.
Lets face it, Megaupload was one of the biggest sites online, they certainly had teams dedicated just to managing their ads, they were not really "usual" downloads site.

I just want to know what advertisers should I use, how much are they paying, etc.
