Anyone had any success gaming reddit?

So in recent years the popularity of reddit has exploded, it essentially replaced digg. Now its the 52nd most popular website in the USA so this site is getting massive traffic. With that being said I want to know if there is anyone who has had experience in terms of trying to game reddit?

I am more serious in doing this so I am willing to devote a considerable amount of time developing a method to hit the front page and be able to monetize that front page popularity. I just want to know what others have learned from their attempts.

I am completely familiar with the tech savvy nature of reddit and I was considering doing marketing by using IMGUR or youtube. As these types of links seem to dominate the front page. I won't be wasting any time writing blog posts and trying to get them front paged so I can make money off adsense - too little money plus I know most redditors use adblock.

Also don't waste your time saying, "reddit is too tech savvy, don't waste your time." At this point, reddit is too big to ignore. There is lots of money to be made there.

Man the only thing with reddit is you need diff ip's... usually private. They are very bitchy when it comes to dropping links en masse.

Reddit honestly isn't worth your time, unless you get really lucky. The best way to monetize from it is filling up a blog with adsense/clickbank ads, and then getting to the front page somehow. And there is no easy way to get the the front page, you need legit, funny or interesting content.

Get your post high enough on the rankings and you'll get a link from BoTW, and a host of other high PR scraping sites - how is that not worth it?
Build a reputation in the /r/niche you're aiming for and you're set!

Now I'm not saying its the only way, but the easiest method is to just make a top 10, people love 'em.

Exactly. I've been a Reddittor for a long time now, and have seen several trends over the past few years. Right now people really like top 10 lists, cat pictures (mainly cat pictures actually lol), memes, etc. Build something around it, make your website interesting. r/TodayILearned is great when your website is full of interesting content.

I'm getting a ton of traffic from reddit/imagur....it's not too hard to throw up something funny and get tons of traffic. I get front page every day

Yeah, I've seen a lot of those Derpa ones too - which I don't get because they're about as funny as a kick in the scrotum...

Just photos of crap you got really cheap always go down well too
