Blackhat strategy for non-IM site

Hello,

I am going to create a website for my business that is not related to IM. I've read on the forums about quality backlinks and articles. My question is should I create a separate blog site and post articles onto that blog that link back to my main site or create a blog integrated in my main site and post the articles from there? I want to use my website and a facebook business page. My idea was to publish using the blog which would also publish to the facebook page and the website. Let me know what is a good strategy.
