I have 3-5k to spend and i am willing to put in $500 a month into a website. Do you think this is the best use of my money? I might also be looking for someone to help me pick out a website and maybe even run it and would be willing to pay. Any help and tips would be appreciated thanks!

My goal with the website would be to start making $1000 a month after a year. is this possible? thanks

If your budget is $5k, I wouldn't advise spending more than $1-2k on a site. That way you can buy 3 and hedge your risk. What sort of sites are you looking for? I would look for Adsense sites that are ranking on page 2/late page 1 and can easily be increased higher up the rankings to boost earnings.

Thanks for the help! I would be interested in fitness or nutrition sites because i would enjoy working on the site. Also pet sites or vet sites because I am in veterinary school right now.

Also, I am new at buying websites are there people I can pay that will help me pick out a website and make sure it is a quality site?

Just take a look around Flippa but due diligence is crucial, you'll get ripped off in a hurry if not.

Can i pay people to help me with the due dilligence because i do not have much experience

You seem very new to websites. I would not start with 5000. Start small and learn by your mistakes, then invest.

You should be able to pick up a website making 300 a month for 3000. Generally a site is worth 10 times monthly revenue. This assumes that there is no particular value in the name itself.

We really need more information to help you better. You can pm me if you wish. Basically you need to decide what path you want to take.

How involved do you want to be?

Do you want an online property that brings you 1000 a month but is hands off for you?

Is the 1000 a minimum, or your goal?

Do you want to sell retail products, sell digital products, sell services, do CPA, make an adsense site, blog, promote local businesses, form a community site, or membership site.

A thousand a month in a year should be attainable in almost any one of these methods, except maybe adsense, you might need 500 or so content pages on an authority site for that much a month. I am getting about $100 per month per 40 pages of conent.

You should PM Meathead1234 and ask for his advice. It may be he has a property like you are looking for, and having him in your corner when buying a domain would be like having Bruce Lee as your bodyguard in a fistfight. I am sure he will see that you find what you are looking for, and you do not have to doubt his advice. It may be that you are not quite spending in his league, but it will be worth asking him.

You should listen to any advice Meathead gives away, he's the man you want to get to know if you are buying or selling a website.

The best person to help you buy a quality site from flippa is meathead1234.

thanks sldebo. i cant pm you because i dont have enough posts yet. I wouldnt mind working on the website for a few hours a week. what type of site could i expand the most? i want a site i can keep for a while and work on and improve and learn from. I can put up to $500 a month into the site and i have a 1 year goal of the site making $1000 a month and a 2-3 year goal of improving the site to around 3k a month. is this possible? what type of site would be best for these goals?
