Hi guys, I am asking for help. It takes me months to manage to get position 6 for a highly competitive keyword. According to big G the numbers are:

1) Exact global search:18100 - Exact local search:12100
2) Broad global search:74000 - Broad local search:40500

According to stat counter, I only get 5 visitors a day. How can this happen? My hope was to get at least about 60-100 a days. Can someone help me understand because it is really deceiving to put all this work and realize that was a pure waste of time.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Try having your site number 3 without any traffic :(Anyway you might only be ranking in .com and not .co.uk or .inWhat google are you using to check your serps?

I just check the ranking in .co.uk and .in - Pos 7 for .co.uk and 6 for .in . What bother me is not the lack of traffic for this site. I just want to understand.

Ok, so exact local monthly searches are: 12100. That's around 403 a day. How has the keyword been trending? Going off your data and a rule of thumb I like to use: at 403 searches a day #1 spot probably gets around 50% of the traffic. leaving spots 2-10 and the PPC places with around 200 searches daily. Getting around 5-10 visitors a day seems a bit low but it is normal. Try to get your rankings higher.

How did you check your rank?
Did you clear your cookies, because that can give sometimes the wrong impression.

What kinda keywords you guys rank for? are they broad, I think the problem maybe with keywords, not sure if they get enough people, I would suggest to try to rank for better ones, cause 5 people a day is not good in my book,

I have a similar msn with 18k global searches. I get at least 80-100 visits daily. What kind of system are you using to check your rank? If you do manual search be sure that cookies aren't up. Use /anon browsing with USA proxy and you're good to go.

It is all about the quality of the pages BEFORE you. Not so many people click on more results as once to open it in new window, as geeks do and tend to believe that most people do.

I personally am nr. 6-8 (depends on day) for 180K US exact searches keyword, and get about 800 daily traffic from this keyword only - simply because the results before me aren't that good. Then there is another keyword with 5K exact local searches plus some other related terms have another 5K where I am 2nd for all these keywords, for a long time... However, I barely get 20 visits a day - simply becasue the page on number 1 is really good and even I like it :).

That's most likely also the reason for you - the websites before you are simply good enough, so no need to come to number 6. What to do? Well, try to get to number 1 obviously.

Getting at no 6 is not a guarantee of traffic all the way. Add more backlinks and do some article submission and forum posting to get traffic from there.

I think that must be the reason. Because the niche is very competitive (all red spot when analyzing with market samurai), the first pages are good and the visitors probably get the answer they are looking for. I am gonna do my work and get the a higher spot. Thanks again to all of you for your help.

Position doesn't guarantee traffic, it can really only be seen as a good indication you will get traffic. You can rank #1 for "Pink Elephant Penises"....but that doesn't mean you'll get traffic....actually...I'm going to go google that now...I'm always amazed that no matter how crazy the keyword...someone has talked about it somewhere haha.
