This is not true. They were using Skimlinks before, but stopped using them in Feb after public outrage. I can still see amazon referral links. They seem to be working properly.

People, it's been widely-known on bhw for a long time now. You do not need an invite. Simply go to: http://pinterest.com/invited/?invite=wsj

All you need are twitter or fb accounts (a dime a dozen).

Just require a invitation from the Pinterest, that's how I did. After few days they let me know on my e-mail that I can register. And actually just pin everyday different pictures of your product, like 100 things in your category, follow about 10/15 people and on the 5th day I have about 100 followers. One of my pins was repined yesterday 23 times, which is very nice, as this site is a travel blog (give me some link-juice) and I also have some adsense clicks. Generally, it's pretty easy to start. I hope I will be able to scale it in near future

Great tips. Also to add...Pinterest is great and especially for photographers and designs. Visual stuff is getting great attention on Pinterest and more than 80% users are females . Don't worry about copyright thing, use watermark to be safe.
