Safe Youtube SEO for Google Serps

I want to rank some of my videos in the serps. I have tried some traditional blackhat techniques with limited success. My video would go to the front page for easy keywords for a few days and then fall of completely.

What are some safe ways to get my youtube videos to rank in the serps for the long term instead of just falling off. Sometimes they fall of completely out of the top 100 and sometimes they fall to page 2 or 3 and just dont have thumbnails. Any help would be great appreciated.

One thing I do is that I use wiki's to backlink my youtube videos and it works decently.

do you think you have to purchase views if your video is only video in the niche?
