So after the recent FB timeline update, I lost 99% of my traffic. My facebook page was ranking high in the SERPs for various keywords and bringing in 200 + visitors per day.

After the update the page got de-indexed so I am doing some research and I ended up checking out Coca Cola's fan page...

And what do you know.... Coke still have a nice landing page!

Go to facebook and type coca cola and pick the first one... you should land on this landing page

It seems FB are letting the big brands keep their landing pages but everyone else gets facked over!

its not default landing page its just app .default page is timeline page

The timeline seems to be universally hated by everyone in my family and all my FB friends too, of course they aren't losing bank over it. Why is facebook sticking with it if everyone seems to hate it anyway?

Did you go to Facebook and type in the search field...

First time I did it, I landed on that page...

2nd time I did it, I landed on their time line.

Still, I would like to have my app page be the first page people land on the first time they visit my fanpage. Arrrrhhhhh so pissed. :D

Removing the default landing page feature is the biggest mistake facebook made. They had nothing to lose. I still don't understand the reason for this.

Isn't the timeline thing an option rather than a must? I've still got friends that have not started using it and are using the old design.

Timeline is a piece of shit. Facebook is being run by an arrogant team.

I think everyone's forced to change eventually. First it's the US, then countries in Europe and so on.
That's what I believe at least.

Yes thats true. As of now, its an option as long as you dont select timeline. Once you do, theres no reversing.

I still have the original, the timeline looks retarded, it's so busy looking.

I like timeline for personal facebook, but it's total crap in a basket for pages... I would, however, like to know how coke did that on their page!!!!

Funny u should bring this up today. Looks like the the greedy shareholders and Zuckerberg himself are screwing up a good thing. I watched this documentary last night that talks about the coca cola page and other corporate facebook pages. They discuss the ethics of "brand likes". facebook or the corporations are pumping up the brand "likes" with faces of members next to the brands. When the BBC reporter accused facebook of doing this and asked if it was fair the publicist could only stare and stutter excuses. Skip near the end of the video if you only want to see that part.

I hated the timeline when i accidently hit accept about a month ago, grown to love it now though its cool, I guess its like anything new people always hate change when they are used to something and set in their way with it, time gos on though and you can't picture it being the old bland version it use to be and from what i hear a lot of fb marketers are loving the new time line as its brought new ways to advertise

I'm planning on ignoring Facebook until it goes away. Someday they'll find Zuckerberg floating face-down in his swimming pool in an all-leather gimp suit, hand-cuffed to a blow-up doll and with a dead gerbil up his rectum. One person cannot withstand the focused hatred of the entire planet indefinitely; at some point he's going to crack.

Its all about FB going public. It is time for them to milk the cow. Even on FB home page there are corporate ads.

You prolly right.

From the perspective of the corporate world (the advertisers/the people that want to hire new staff) the timeline is perfect, coz they can get much more "useful" data of their customers or potential customers.

So is there a way to remove timeline? I've heard about timelineremove (dot) com but haven't tried it yet because I have no fb :)
