Bought 14 years old domain & it shows 2 days? Why?

I just bought 14 years old domain for $59 at NameJet checked it again - majority of tools show 2 days Only SEOquake still shows 14 years. I wonder how it happened??? What was wrong?

Is it because of change of registrar? But nobody asked me - it was automatic, done by NameJet. Is it all my fault and its better to forget about 14 years or there are any solutions? I will appreciate any advice.

check whois of the website.sometimes the domain got deleted from the registery after all and it would be having the value of a newly registered domain.cHECK THE WHOIS ON WHOIS.NET

I've checked - it is 2 days But Open site explorer still shows:

Page Authority - 30
Domain Authority - 16
Linking Root Domains - 6
Total Links - 7

So I'll try to recover old content before it'll be deindexed

Any other advise?

try namejet and see what thye can do, they instantly forwarded it so this must have come up for them in the past

Seoquake takes time to update, may be they also will update your age to like few days as you said. Better go for a discussion with namejet and ask for a refund.

Yes, I've sent an email to NameJet, I doubt they will do anything. I bought it just because of age otherwise I could buy something suitable below $10...

Got a reply from NameJet:

"The domain that you purchased was a pending delete domain. By definition, these domains are going domains being deleted at the registry. As that is the case, the domain age started over again."

Very strange - pending delete is not the same as deleted already. I am not getting it - something seems to be very wrong. I feel cheated

Just Googled it - tricky terminology...To make it short - pending delete and deleted is the same. So never buy aged domains on "Pending delete" stage unless it is very cheap - age will be reset to 0.

Oooh. That sux. In the process of buying a 9 yr old domain. So I'll have to thread carefully. Sounds a bit devious to use the terminology the way they do.

All you lost is WHOIS age. You haven't lost a day in Google age. I'm not sure what your plans are for the domain so I don't know if you'll need WHOIS age or Google age to accomplish your goal.

Big difference between WHOIS age and Google age - take some time to Google "how does google determine domain age" and do some research if you're concerned about Google age. In short, WHOIS age resets with every drop, Google age NEVER resets.

I bought a aged domain from godaddy!! It still shows 14 years old.

Try to recover some of the sites content from the waybackmachine.

People say to use private domain information i never did so dont know the significance.

What about domains from the godaddy auction?
