For all those born in 70's & 80's !

Hmmm how time flies. I actually remember having and using 14,000 bps modems....

There are two public football pitches in front of my window. When I was kid, I needed to wake up 7am and go to the pitch without breakfast, so we have a chance to get a place where to play. From 8am to 8pm the pitches were full. Full of friends that were playing football or tennis together (2 courts on a side - again, public)

Then today, the pitches are still there. However, I look 100 times out of a window - not a single child is there, ever! Only person to go there time to time are me and my friends, 25-30 years old guys playing on the pitch for kids.

And that's the difference between 80's generation and the latest one. So sad...

I can agree with this.

Those days are all over, say hello to completely unhealthy and unnatural living, indoors 20 hours a day. No wonder 8 year old kids are 200+ lbs and have diabetes. It's so sad

I was born in the seventies will stick with today. Kids of today just the same as any previous generation. Screw it would I want to return to the pre-internet days no thanks

Hey I'm 13, and may I just say, the 70's sounded awesome. But the reason why kids aren't outside as much anymore, or the reason for me, is competition. The news is on 24/7 in my house (Fox News FTW.) And they talk about how China's buying up resources, India's classes are shifting up, US is falling behind the rankings, our debt becomes 16 trillion, etc. I feel I must learn now, while I have the time, or else it will be to late. It's either that or suffer the same fate everyone else will if another socialist gets elected -- we become slaves to China.

For other kids, or at least the "social butterflies! Yeah!!! School is awesome!" kids, I assume it's TV, Facebook, Homework (Doing the homework I get on any given day the right way will easily take 3 hours. Remember, a lot of us get home at 3, so that means an hour of liesure, homework for 2 hours, and it's already 6. Time for dinner and bed.) Sure, we go outside on weekends, but only for an hour and 1/2 to play a game of basketball, or if I'm lucky, play football for 6 hours straight(Though we haven't done that for a month ; ( ).

Anyways, what I'm trying to get out here, there are three reasons kids suck these days.

1. They are like me, .0001%.

2. They are care free annoying ignorant kids who want to do nothing else but go on Facebook.

3. School.

I stopped after one sentence so no offense intended son. Competition???News? China?? ok maybe a few sentences-dont you want to pick up a ball and play catch? Ride a bike? Fly a kite? Be a kid!!!

Ill leave that posted after reading the rest of your post. Be a kid! Have fun in the sun and do not worry about our national debt-sounds like maybe mom and dad do enough of that for you.

It's not that simple, as there is no one to do it with, because everyone is inside.

And as I had said in the post you did not read. We do go outside, but usually in our backyards and for only about and hour or two.

Very bright kid :D

I got distracted by my earlier post so sorry-but what I meant to say is anyone that wants to take the Pepsi challenge of vids vs. our generation vs. todays games Ill stick by ours.

That means Zelda(original) crushes C.O.D
Metroid (original) crushes Halo

This list is too huge so BRING IT ON!!

PS I havent touched on mall arcades yet!!

There is no park? No Play ground? No boy or girl close in age to do something with? I am only asking?!?

well said and it is totally true. i am proud to born in 80's and we faced a huge growth tech wise than other generations.

There's a park, but as I said, we do go there at least once a week.

And I do play outside 5/7 days a week to be safe.

Just saying: What's the point of having fun now and being a slave later, instead of being a slave now (learn everything you can,) and be rich later, and have 24/7 fun?

Eh idk, I don't do the Just Saying thing.

As I have said repeatedly, I do go outside quite often, just not as long as kids in the 70's did.

I feel the main problem is school.

Here is my schedule:
Wake up at 7:30.
Leave for school at 7:50
School starts at 7:55.
School ends at 2:30.
Get home at 3.
I have an hour of leisure. That brings me to 4.
Homework brings me to 5:30 or 6.
BHW until dinner around 8 or 9.
Dinner ends at 10.
BHW until 1.
Bed time.
... etc, etc.
(8th grade.)

I do replace the BHW with playing outside quite often, let this be clear.

Times are different my young friend there is no doubt. I have a 13 yr old daughter so your schedule is not lost on me. When I was your age I had the same schedule only practice started at 4. We walked, rode bikes or hoped somebody's mom got off early enough to drive us. Didnt matter what time of year it was we had hockey/hoops,baseball or football waiting.

My only point is to agree with you exactly. But find the things you like to do and DO them. Yours is finding the time ours was finding a ride

1974 here my friend. I still try and convince my iphone holding kids how fast technology grows at a geometric rate. Thanks for the support.

Eh.. I guess you're right. We do the same when we go to play football which we never do anymore cause the kids in my class are to afraid of getting hurt. Fags.

Play flag (touch) football. 3 on 3. 5 on 5. No rush.

PS the best part about football is not creaming the other guy but making him MISS. Remember that.

Femmy emo teenage boys with weird-looking jeans falling off their ass.

I mean, back in the day I thought Steve Perry from Journey and maybe even the Bee Gees were good male role models, but I was young, stupid and no one ever told me what GAY looked like. But gay has been around and out in open the for a long time now, and today's teenagers ought to be a lot smarter than I was.
