What type of links do you guys use to diversify your anchor text? I mean like, when you're linking to your site using anchor text like "visit us HERE", what types of links are you using?

I'm a bit hesitant to spend money on really high quality links to only use generic anchor text like that (like "visit us HERE").

Could I realistically just use Wiki links and such for diversifying? Like basically blasting all my sites pages with wiki links using tons and tons of generic anchors?

Any other suggestions?

Reason I ask is because I think one of the main reasons I (along with many others) have received unnatural linking notices is due to a lack of anchor text diversity.

I use forum posts, wikis, AMR and SB to diversify the anchor with great results. I use only main keywords for paid links.

Thanks man. You use Scrapebox directly to your site? I've always been scared do that; primarily because blog comments are generally hammered with thousands of links (OBL is crazy high). Am I worrying for no reason?

Here i'm using a large set of keywords and a few generic ones. I always did that and so far, no penalty.

For scrapebox, i only blast the money site with high quality website such as edu / gov / high PR and that's it. The success rate is very low (couple of hundreds posted which stick in time)

Nothing wrong with using high quality links with just the URL as the anchor. It'll still do the job of passing authority.

True, true. But I feel like our site would get more of a boost for the keyword we're targeting if we DO use anchor text, as oppose to using just the URL as the anchor. But you have a valid point.

Around 5k quality blog comments should be enough, they will get indexed overtime which will look natural.

Indeed, for blog comments i believe it is better to not ping them, it is more natural and don't raise any flags. You can assume that Matt Cutts has scrapebox on his computer and knows what you can do with it.

If you ping them, it doens't look natural as Google will index "out of sudden" crappy blog comments with high OBL.

I even extend this to many backlinks actually. I believe Google will find by itself what it needs to find. He may skips some links but he may have his reasons to.

That's personal thoughts though, it worths what it worths.

I did 14 ALN submissions with around 30 anchor text variations. I also did a wiki blast with around 20 anchor text variations. Webmastertools shows that google has found 33 different anchor text variations for my site. I think that is enough. Now I can focus on my 4 main keywords.

My tier 1 consists of the main keyword and tier 2 and 3 contain related long tail keywords

I do it on all kinds of link, why limit yourself to only wikis or blog comments for example when it comes to keyword density? Heck i even use generic keywords on my 1st tier links.
Also i prefer going 40% main, 20 % 2nd keyword, 20% 3rd keyword and 20% generic keywords, like: click here, visit us, more info at etc

But hey that's just me :)

I received the over-optimization penalty on Feb 17th and since that date, every link that I have created has not contained my keyword. I am doing everything possible to de-optimize my anchor text. I believe once the "acceptable" percentage of anchor link text is achieved, your (my) site will no longer get caught in the algorithm.

I have been using this wiki service in the BST section: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...wikis-1000-bookmarks-insane-ip-diversity.html

I only get the wiki package for $49 and what is great about this is that you can have unlimited urls and keywords. I have built a list of 1500 garbage anchor text along with naked urls so I am hoping that this will help. I haven't fully removed the penalty I received, but I have seen some good keywords return back to their original position.

I have shared this link before, but its a good read for those who have not seen it: http://www.audiencebloom.com/2012/03...ow-to-recover/

If you have a successful site online you shouldnt be scared to use non kwd anchor text. Link juice will still flow and you will actually probably improve the other kwds you are going for. Remember that Goog is not dumb, and they will catch onto you pretty quickly if you only link out the same anchor.

Ex: I have a Raspberry Ketone site that was doing very well over the last 3 months.. I did high PR blog posts with my main 2 kwds, prob got around 250 links or so this way. Then I backlinked the interior pages with all my long tail kwds.. well as of 72 hours the site dropped substantially. When I looked at the link report I noticed that all my homepage links were for the exact same 2 kwds. Now this could have easily been prevented if I were to diversify a little bit or if this site didnt happen to get top rankings right before an algo change, but whatever the case may be I am now linking mispellings, website name, and generic anchor "Click HEre" to try to get it back up.

So if I were you, I would learn from everyone else's mistakes on here in this forum and apply the successful campaigns to your sites.

I will most likely start a thread in this site as a case study on how to come back from Panda 3.4.. If I get enough thanks I will definitely do so :)

I have tried different variations and it has worked out better for me using the keyword anchors. I may change that around a little bit though, since google seems to be handing out that over-optimization penalty:(

If you don't ping them, Someone else will so you can never be sure about that. Someone using the same keywords to scrape might end up with a list that is too similar to yours.

Yes, this is the catch 22 that many of us are in b/c using keyword anchors is obviously better and you get a better SERP increase, but there has to be some percentage that trips the google penalty and the message to your google wmt account. What the percentage is, is anyone's best guess so I am not going to speculate on that.

I have been using a lot of narked urls lately as this is a very popular way to share a link. Most people on this forum when they want to share a link just throw up a naked url. Also, if you have a brand name, use that a lot in your anchor text.

Why not doing 50/50 OR 30/70 ?

Just saying.

yeah, i'm not sure what the magical percentage is, but i believe if you have a brand name you should have your brand name and naked urls comprising at least 50% of your anchor text...you might ask, why do i think this?...i don't have a good answer for you in regards to this question, this is just my best guess...
