Quick Sandbox Question

When Google sandboxes your site, do they remove it from all of their searches or can you get a penalty for a particular keyword?

My site dropped about 60 spots in Google for one keyword, however, some keywords are still on the first page.

I'm wondering if the sandboxing is relative to a particular keyword as it will effect my future plans for this site.

Note: The only thing that changed was that I linklicious-ed about 2000 backlinks in the past couple days, but they were for all keywords. not just one

could just be dancing? its happend to a few of my sites and i always come back.

but if it is sandboxed than it is your entire site. i found that if you let the domain expire, and than re-register it, you are no longer sandboxed.

If you still have first page rankings then it's just a dance for that keyword. A sandboxed website is removed from google index for all the keywords, you can't find it even if u type the exact url in G.

Concur, you are dancing. You get an initial boost from Google if you are now and wow and then it settles down. Add more links.

your most likely just dancing, which could very well end up as a good thing at the end.

try in the search bar of big G... site:yourdomain.com

if it still has a result then its not sandboxed but deranked or dance.

did you check you G webmaster tools? Aren't there any new messages? Same with my site. I got message that have unnatural links to my site.

Even i had experienced the same thing around a month back... Some of my keywords ( the ones i was trying to optimize ) went down around 60 positions from the very first page.... Now the keywords seem to be coming back.... dont know if it was Panda or sandbox... but i took almost a month to get my ranking and traffic back

Originally there was a sandbox and while that doesn't exist any more, the effect is still around. Essentially, you're no longer placed into a sandbox, you just lose their trust and are no longer in their trusted box.

What is occurring to your site is not that.

That is what happened with my site today. Yesterday I was positioned from rank 3 -10 for defferent keywords. I tried to help the ranking with SB backlinking the last 4 days (I blasted about 3000-4000 new backlinks every day). Now the site is banned and I can't find it in Googles search engine even if I type the url! So, sandboxing is still a working spamm filter. I heard that when it comes out from sandbox, it gets a better position. So instead of crying for my site, I will blast out new backlinks everyday (target 5000/day). I will stop only when I see my site in the serps again.

If you are seeing positions on some keywords then it is not sandboxed.

Sandboxed is when you search with site:yourdomain.com and you get no results for it.

What worked for me was to stop backlinking to my site completely, it took almost 6 months but I did regain the original posistion of #4 for a competitive keyword.
