The title says it all. I am not a "guru" or "expert" don't claim to be ever, though I've like to think I've got a pretty good handle on my stuff. I recently started a link building service (not general SEO service) and I was contacted by a potential client. What is the fair going rate hourly to tutor someone 1 on 1 in the art of SEO?

$50 - $150/hr depending on your skillset. In your case I'd say closer to $50 since from what you said your not yet an expert.

There is no standard rate. I know SEOMoz does it. You could charge $50-100p/h is my guess. It sounds more like $50 p/h. Any lower and you're devaluing your skills greatly.

This would be a great time to test how valuable others see yours skills. Create a survey to give to your client once you're done. Depending on what they say judge what you should price your service. Offering incentives, bonuses, etc is a good way to build your client base as well

Hey guys thanks a lot these are exactly the sort of answers I was looking for.

I would say probably about 40/hour. if you're good, and professional with some real material to teach with.

Don't listen to these other kids bro they don't know their own a$$ from a hole in the ground, stick with a low price for basic training, once you've given your clients a taste, then you raise your prices for "advanced training" it's all business all the time.

Well this is a very derogatory post; I don't understand how we suddenly know less than you?

One-on-one tutoring is very expensive. People teaching high school and university subjects garner $20-30+ an hour. What makes you think that SEO training is not worth much more than that? SEO training is teaching you directly how to make money. $50 would be low on the industry standard side. We set our price, we set the standard within the industry. Price competition is usually a bad idea; convince on features, not price.

hmm i was thinking of doing the same thing, i am pretty sure i can ask 100$ an hour
