Why is it that there are so many posts that have the structure: "Google made a change, and now I'm losing position." when mathematically there ought to be an equal number of people/posts that benefit from Google's changes?
It seems all I see now are constant posts about how "X" doesn't work anymore, and "Y" will get you sandboxed now, but there doesn't ever seem to be an equal number of postitive, effective methods that replace those that are no longer effective.

I think the old supplemental system may have been dugout and dusted down

1. onsite seo on sites seems to be a much stronger factor for the keywords the site ranks for
2. i've noticed the article marketing campaigns i've done have been ranking better than the money site they targeted for the keywords they were setup for
3. they've been hitting people lately for overoptimization of anchor text
4. my gut reaction to what they said was that they were turning off anchor text keyword passthrough (where although the page was keyword strong for potato, your anchor text for the link was gardening, so the link improves your strength for gardening, it is my belief this no longer works that way, the link would enhance your ranking for potato)
numbers 1,2 and 3 lead me to believe #4 is correct

Matt Cutts said in his blog that Panda was about improving the content of sites and the results. More importance will be placed on social interaction. Reading between the lines that tells me links, shares etc that cannot be manipulated by the SEO company or the website owner will weigh more heavily than shares by unconfirmed accounts or accounts owned by the business owner, sharing an ip with the site in question, etc.
They will also rank above profile links, forum links etc...
Sites that rely heavily on blink farms and the like will follow the way of the article directories.
The path to salvation is to focus on the content according to Cutts ... but I can't resist a few tweaks along the way...lol.

two reasons:
1.) this is a blackhat forum. People here are using blackhat/greyhat techniques that make there sites more likely to be hit with googles updates
2.) people are simply more likely to discuss and publish their negative experiences rather than give google praise because they rose in the search
hold it there.. don't overestimate the intelligence of google.
1.) I think you mean the ip of the site owner?
2.) google only has your ip for their own products. all the shares on other platforms should be ok then .

I have noticed it's a lot harder to rank my sites and it's reaaaaallly slow compared to how it used to be. Trying to test more and more, I'll report back if I find anything that helps move things faster.
The tools that have been used for blackhatting does not work as they have before, the huge linkwheels seems to do more harm now than it does good when you start doing it on a daily basis and just continue building. I am currently doing tests based on bounce, time on site and CTR now and see how that affect my results with natural linkbuilding (not overdoing it but generating what I call smart links). Not to many, huge amounts of anchors and then onpage I target the keywords that I want with underlining, bold, italic, h1 etc.
ALN links are also often discussed and I have seen boosts in rank with ALN but I think these links are loosing all its authority/power as it is discussed so frequently here on BHW.
Remeber this is one of the biggest sites in the world according to Alexa and this is probably browsed by the such as google (would surprise me if they dont look here).
So for now I am targetting a diversified strategy with unique content, trying to raise time on site and CTR as well as lower Bounce!

How many sites moved in what time period and what type of naked links? (BM, article, profile). How much movement with how much competition?
Also if this were the case it would seem you could only target a specific keyword if and only if it is in your URL, which I suppose it should be anyway. Is this working for EMD only or have you tried site . communication / keyword1 and seen movement for keyword 1?

Google is bad news, their only hurting themselves by doing all this nonsense. With that said I feel like a classic car mechanic in a world filled with Prius owners.
