R.I.P Private Blog Networks

Bull about the spun content you mention, shall i tell you that BMR that takes unique content only and had their blogs deindex, so what does that tells me.

its tells me am just waisting my money paying some content writer to write and post on bmr when at the end of the day their blog get deindex, I might as well just go with network that take spun content when the end result are the same.

youre right coco.. i agree. G targets blog networks by looking for footprints and patterns. the results from blog networks are temporary these days. many blog network owners refuse to tell the truth. some private network still work though, because they dont have thousands of people using them making thousands of outbound links everyday

And as far as Google not having armies, they do, for example that is almost exactly what leap force is...an army of manual reviewer that Google pays... We should know, we have people in the office who have spouses who work on it. We know exactly what they do, and what they look for =)

The key is to stay under the algorithm's radar.

Straw man argument.

I said they don't sign up to blog networks, write articles, submit and take note of the sites. You said they have manual reviewers.

That's like me saying Ferrari don't have magical alien creatures that imbue their engines with magical powers and you reply with "They have teams of engineers".

Manual reviewers don't sign up to blog networks. They're unskilled average workers who have no clue about technical stuff. They follow a set of guidelines and rate pages based on various factors. They also only do manual reviews for a tiny tiny tiny tiny portion of the web.

I too don't say much around here. However, many of you are cumming off like know-it-all blow hards. What does anyone really know about what's going to happen in the future from Google? Nothing! If you can read the future, screw G's future lets work on the NYSE and go to vegas and make some serious money. Everything said here is all based on hearsay. There are so many different paths to page 1, what works for one person may not work for the next based on many factors. There are a lot amateurs on this forum and others (not everybody, but a lot) who think that because they have a lot of posts that makes them experts (what that possibly makes them is a person with too much time on their hands). So when you read on any forum that things are not working in regards to their PN campaigns there is no way to gauge what their skill set is or if they screwed something up as many do. There are just way to many variables to make statements seen in this post.

A perfect real world example is how many people think link wheels / pyramids / pushes are no longer effective. They still seem to work otherwise, people wouldn't be signing up for services in the groves like linkpushing, which btw works like a charm, and has some private networks in it I believe too. **thanks greg

What google is going to do next is merely speculation.. other then little hints that Matt C and the G Mafia let out. He did just mention at the SxSW event in austin that they will be implementing a new algorithm within a few weeks that will effectively punish any site doing massive SEO. So what that exactly means is anyone's guess.. it is not uncommon for G to screw with peoples heads, they have publicly more or less admitted to that before.

Although I don't agree with robby on most things, however I do agree that having your own PN is better and the only way to go. Oh and the Justin "'Batty boi" Beiber thing was so 4th grade..

We could sit here and wax intellectual on what makes sense for google to do next, but in the end our ideas, thoughts and opinions are just that, baseless opinions of what we "think" will happen.

Robby - at least you got your post count up out of this pissing match. And get out of my Mom's basement she carries a personal firearm and I would hate to see you eat a bunch of buckshot for breakfast. ;)

until next time.

The dead horse is still kicking. After all this hub-bub about sites depending on private blog networks getting slapped I decided to join a private blog network and right now I'm watching all my rankings climb.

Yeah, private networks are HIGHLY effective at increasing your rankings and I am speaking from experience.

I own 5 private networks... some with partners and some my own.

The whole panic thing about PNs being bad these days is so over blown it makes linsanity look small.

Do it right and your PN will do what it is designed to do.

Diversity is the name of the game as to backlinking and random chaos as to that diversity makes it even stronger.

That will ALWAYS be the deal.

BassTracker knows his stuff guys, so pay attention when he says something.;)

PNs are not dying like the OP would like to have everyone believe. In fact, using PNs has become more effective recently IMHO.

Random chaos is definitely one of the best ways to appear natural in your link building, and PNs are perfect for creating this chaos.

If you are going to build your own PN, make sure you learn how to do it properly. If you are going to pay for a service(which is the best way to start taking advantage of PNs right away), you must do your research first to make sure you get the right network.

@Yukinari184 and All Experts In Picking PN...

What are the characteristics of a good Private Network?

If you are to be ask?

I don't want to ask the exact network as this will incur promotion. Instead, I want to ask what are your basis why you choose a particular network.

I usually stay out of these type of discussions because there tends to be more guessing and speculating than actual facts that creep into them, but I think what some people might be noticing and (possibly) mis-characterizing as the targeting of PBN's is that Big G has openly stated recently they are adjusting their algos to place more importance on "social" sharing.

That is (or maybe has already) going to affect the value of links of all types, including from PBN's.

Think about it, if G is looking for patterns of social engagement, and finds a cluster of blogs--which are supposed to be social by their very nature--which aren't each associated with individual, active social accounts on any networks, then it's easy to segregate them into a "lower value" grouping since they don't appear to be "natural".

A natural or legitimate blog, is going to get comments, and it's going to have at least one or more social accounts associated with it that are moderately active.

So, it may be that G isn't necessarily targeting PBN's, so much as they are tweaking algos in such a way that unless every blog in a PBN has a natural profile that includes regular commenting and associated social account(s), the links from those blogs will just carry less weight.

This is all just my own speculation based on what G is and has been saying for a while now. I could be completely wrong.

But if I'm right, or on the right track with this, then that's actually an opportunity because it would mean that you could get more value out of setting up a smaller PBN of your own if you just put the care and efforts in to ensure each blog has a very natural appearing profile.

Anyway, just my $0.02 input on the subject. It would be interesting to see some testing done on it to see though.
To me though if this was true, we wouldn't have seen the mass de-indexing of the PBN that we've seen over the recent weeks. They wouldn't simply be devalued, not de-indexed which is the ultimate penalty.

If its any consolation to ya'll... a couple of weeks ago one of my websites dropped off the of the earth. Its not added to webmaster but no idea if it was properly penalised; rankings were nowhere to be seen. 3 days ago they have magically reappeared just as strong as ever. Sometimes the Google Overlord just does the strangest of things.

How long did your rankings disappear?

30 days? 60 days?

I'm curious b/c I really think these penalties have some sort of time limits to them.

Did you do any link building when the rankings disappeared that you think might of brought the rankings back?

Again, I'm curious b/c I am trying to regain my lost rankings. Its seems I am currently under a -50 penalty and anything I do doesn't move my SERP position even one position up.

To me though if this was true, we wouldn't have seen the mass de-indexing of the PBN that we've seen over the recent weeks. They wouldn't simply be devalued, not de-indexed which is the ultimate penalty.

Well, this is a public forum so its not hard to register and read what is here.

And the fact that is forum is super popular for black hat, it really makes sense that google is here and even matt cutts recently said in a tweet he has a BHW forum id.

Fuck private blog networks AKA public blog networks that basically invite shitoogle in for a drink.

You want to make it? Buck the fuck up and start your own networks, WE 2.0, High PR, forums, niche sites.. Mix that shit up. Lazy people will only make out for a short while then they will have to start all over again. Bust your ass and you will make bank, its not that hard.

Blog networks aren't dead, people just got lazy. Class c hosting is a joke.

Yes, I know B2B know his stuff..

But he's not god, and that means he can also be wrong to..;)

Yes, they are.. As long as the network dose not get deindexed. That's why alot of these networks are closing their doors..

If you get IDK say 1000 post from a network and they end up getting their blogs deindexed not only will you drop back down but you might be even penalized for losing that many backlinks in such a short period.

Even though your question is not directed to me I thought I would answer it anyways. Any network would be fine as long as it is not popularized by the masses. Like everyone knew about BMR, ALN, etc.. So it was only a matter of time.

So just find any network and keep it to yourself..;)

I did read your post which was very informative.

However, the downside is you used a title that making false claims in hopes of attracting more views and attention. This is what you see at places like WF or DP.

Your thread would have been much better off with something a little more related to the actual content you posted IMHO. Good threads like yours don't need to trick people into reading them since the content quality speaks for itself.

And of course BassTracker isn't god, but I know he does know his way around PNs and making them work.

That's all I was saying.;)

I just started my first blog with hostgator and wordpress. I had been a broker, and ebayer. Is my wordpress blog a private blog, i am not understanding this.

Im not a noob but i have never heard these terms before. I know about panda update but this whole discussion isnt making sense for me.
