Need information on a recently acquired PR9 domain

PR 9 on Godaddy auctions? Come on man.

First off, how would a domain have a PR of 9 with almost no backlinks. A legit PR7 has to have TONS of high authority, high PR Do-follow backlinks, let alone PR 9.

Second, a PR 9 domain is like a holy grail of SEO. Why would anyone want to sell it for $1100? Legit PR6-7 domains go for more than that.

I'm sorry but looks like you wasted your $1100. As they saying goes, if something is too good to be true, it IS.

You should also keep this in mind for future purposes. When you buy a ranked domain, it MUST come with the content, or its PR will fall away to nothing unless you can duplicate the content that brought it the rankings. The domain name by itself (in this case) is next to useless, content ranks, not names.

I would consider filing a lawsuit against GoDaddy. There is no way in the world they thought this was a PR9 domain, and they should not be allowing blatant thieves to offer them as such. GoDaddy is in the domain business, when that PR9 went up for sale, alarms should have been going off all the place. Instead, they have no mechanisms to check for false auctions. Imagine if you sold something on eBay that had 1/1000 the the value you claimed, eBay wold shut you down so fast your head would spin.

You should find a bunch of people who have had this happen at GOdaddy, and file a class action lawsuit. They have a fiduciary responsibility to their bidders to police the items offered for sale and make sure they are legit to the best extent they can. If you live in the US. write your congressman and senator telling then you believe federal intervention is required at Godaddy because they are using their corporate status to protect thieves that they advertise for.

It is an election year, might get you some good traction.

They surely have some responsibility for propagating these scams for profit.

I'd rather not waste my money anymore. And I don't think GoDaddy is responsible for fake PR domains being sold. Scammers are everywhere.

Would you file a lawsuit against flippa if someone scams you there?

Might at least be worth a call. You can scare companies into giving you free perks. He might get free hosting for a year or some domain names etc.

Nothing to pay him back, but maybe enough to ease his pain. With a few threats, he might come out with niceties.

Actually content is not really necessary as long as you can replicate the url structure and keep the content in the same genre... It's the backlink profile that counts and that remains regardless of content (unless you lose the URL structure in which case the links point to broken pages)


I feel sorry for the OP but at the same time, it really was just a case of throwing money away without any good reason. A PR9 at $1000 on Godaddy? Really? You can sell backlinks from PR9 homepages for $2500 per link.. 5 links is 12.5k per month!. Why on earth would anyone think for a second that someone would auction off a minimum revernue stream of over $140,000/year for one thousand dollars?

Why wouldn't others bid on it if it was a PR9? One would think the value could be deep into in the hundreds of thousands if not millions.

That was not an educated risk. Red flags should have been popping up everywhere!
