Dear all,

I recently bought my first website off Flippa. I was so excited! It cost $140 and was told it made $30 a month off of Adsense.

Right after I bought it I put my proud Adsense code on the site and sat back and waited. I got one click for about $2.90 the first day! I was soo happy.

But then, I got clickbombed. 150 clicks from Bangladesh when I was sleeping! I got banned soon after. I believe it was another bidder on the Flippa auction who lost.

I immediately sent Google a notification when it happened.. but got no response. A few days latter I got banned. I sent an appeal. Then my appeal was rejected.

I am not so upset about the lost of of $140 but over the fact of what do I do now? I have been reading like crazy about different ways to monetize a website, but frankly am just getting confused with all the different options.

My question is, what is a solid publishers network that isn't as easy to get banned as Adsense. What actually works?

Note - I have tried ****** and infolinks and am making nothing but pennies per day.

Thanks for any advice,
A very upset Adsense user

That really sucks to have that done to you. You could setup another adsense account under a business or family member's name, but I would probably wait a while to anything back on it if someone is vicious enough to do that.

That sucks. Remove adsense from the site and submit a reconsideration request, but first think about monetizing the website through other means, such as amazon, popups, popunders, other networks(there're tons, see what works best for you)

Talk about a perfect illustration of why we need to ensure that we are not held captive to Google's whims. Sure, I'm going to have authority sites setup with Adsense as their main monetization, but I will also have CPAs and other sites with other monetary methods.

I have a feeling the person who sold it to you did the click bomb thinking that he can make the site look like it makes a lot of money, but then it went crazy on him before he can stop it. How much traffic is the site getting per day? From where, google? What is the site about? Maybe you can sell a product using that traffic?

Sorry to hear that. I would guess it was the guy who sold it to you, but who knows.

You might have something there... Op, did the site show Google analytics for past stats? If not, he could have generated the earnings short term, but knew he couldn't hold it... so sold it before he was banned... and then knew that the site wouldn't maintain it, so clickbombed it to ban your account.

It's a theory...

That sounds very plausible. That didn't occur to me, and the fact that it didn't makes me feel a little happy but naive at the same time.

Thank you all for the replys. The site was getting 15-30 hits per day and there was verified analytics data going back for the past 3 months. The site is getting 86% of its traffic from organic means. So it seems pretty solid to me.

Even if it was the seller, oh well. Not much I can do not. But what I really want to figure out is how do big sites handle this problem? (I would love to make a living off of this)

I have heard that you can form a corporation and use that for adsense. Anyone done this? If you do have a corp and its adsense gets banned for clickbombing can you just open up another corporation?

Try using Amazon and also for the mean time make a new Adsense account.

So why doesn't google prohibit people from clicking on ads multiple times, as from there perspective the user (ip) isnt converting to a sale for their advertiser ... so why not just save the advertiser money and keep the publisher from going through a hard time?

It would be soo easy for google to do this, and it would make them more money in the long run due to less invalid clicks and less banning so more money for them taking this cut.

Maybe that's part of the sellers trick? Mmmm I am not sure, but it seems like the domain could have been previously abused to the point of being flagged and after everal warnings etc.. it was under a big red warning on adsense system? good time to sell a site like these on flippa I guess?

I'd certainly contact previous website buyers from that same seller to see what their experiences are, chances are you just found a rotten apple on flippa and trust me there are flippa basket is full of those... :(
