Hi,

I was just wondering how to install a wordpress on a sub domain like

http://productreview.mydomain.com

And found it very simple. I thought to share with the community, as it may be helpful for somebody.

Steps by step

Login to your cpanel.

Click on Subdomains under section "Domains"

Choose the name of "Subdomain" you would have thought.

Select the Domain in which you want to install the subdomain (if you have many domains in one hosting).

For example

Subdomain: review . mydomain.com

IMPORTANT

When you press TAB button under

Document Root : "public_html/review" will appear automatically.

You have to delete public_html here and it should look like

Document Root : review

Then the usual process of going to Fantastico Deluxe - Wordpress - New Installation. Under "Install on Domain" select the SubDomain you have created i.e. review.mydomain.com. (It should have been listed there).

Under "Install on Directory", Leave it Blank and Fill other details and it will install Wordpress.

Enjoy. Thanks.

Kind of a straight forward process but I'm sure there are those who will learn. So thanks for the share. :)

I don't understand what your are trying to achieve.
I have 10 subdomains with separate instances of WP
on them and I just followed the normal installation route
on each subdomain.

this is where the famous 5 minute installation becomes the
infamous 5 hour installation :)

I'm not sure if you're being thanked or criticized here for explaining something that is so so simple and newbie friendly. Well, it is, but great share anyway, because it's useful. I've been doing WordPress sites for years and made a few bucks in that time, but for the first time a week ago, I had to install onto a subdomain - and my site just is NOT displaying correctly.

Anyway, long story and frustration short, I clicked this post, and my issue was what I put into the document root.

THANK YOU for the time to write that up.

Hi,

I tried to explain how to install Wordpress on a SubDomain.

When normally we install a subdomain on any existing domain, the site URL looks like

hxxp://mydomain.com/productreview/

But if we want to have a subdomain before mydomain.com like

hxxp://productreview.mydomain.com

Then I have explained above, how we need to install a subdomain.

Hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Thanks.
