Can someone explain to me about article marketing?

Search engines do not count more than 3 or 4 links from any single domain for SEO purposes. The first link is valuable, the second is useful, the third id so-so, and generally all the rest are not counted.

In addition to that, article directories have been devalued to the point of uselessness, with maybe 3 or 4 exceptions.

Their links are almost valueless.

I know the value of posting good articles for traffic and to boost your online reputation.

Since at most for each successful submission you get 3 links of dubious quality, what is the point?

I can search in Google for an hour and find 3 or 4 PR4 links, it will be more valuable than thousands of article marketing links.

Why bother with all that writing(or buying) articles, spinning, and posting?

Before you go there, I know article marketing used to be gravy in a golden bowl, but so was keyword stuffing. I also understand that squiddo, hub pages, and a few others are still valuable, but after two or three links from them you are literally wasting your time.

Aren't you spending a ton of time and expending a ton of energy for what is equivalent to a bunch of low authority low pr junk links?

I am not trying to pick a fight or mock anyone, I just want your opinion.

Use 3-4 links to money and then use articles as teir links to other mediums of links (i.e. Web 2.0s)

I know how to, I have done it in the past.

I just don't know it it is worth the time suck anymore.

@OP: I think for the most part your spot on. I really don't have much else to say other than use article marketing as a part of your seo strategy but don't rely on it.

@the_demon: Any Other Link Building Work we can reply for good ranking. Actually Before Panda Update Article works for me.

Well, at least if you still have articles that rank well, you'll get direct traffic. I still have some articles from ~2 years ago that rake in a sale or two every month .. Some tens of hops to clickwank products via a simple review domain.

SEO purposes, I'm not an expert on that :)

Is it recommended to throw in a few links to your home page with article marketing? Or should article directories only point strictly to buffer sites?

I've found the most success with article directories where anybody can snatch them up. Even though google penalizes for duplicate content they don't penalize THAT much. I've seen 3 or 4 pages of duplicates on the top of google in certain niches.

Just write an article submit it to ezinearticles or the like, and a LOT of people will be taking this in-whole and autoblogging or reposting it 100% as is. Backlink to your site in the body and the 'about the author' section and you're fine. I had a small niche site that had 10-25 backlinks per article submitted here...

Don't bother spinning, just write 100% unique and original good-quality articles and submit it to article syndication sites and watch the backlinks come in. Not to mention the traffic you'll get from the article itself.

Just because article DIRECTORIES have become devalued, doesn't mean the article itself is devalued, so just aim for guest posts in high PR related blogs.
