Some customers needs to wait 1 month, some 3 months - I cant give any ETA as this belongs on your website category and how Google like you.
I use Alexa backlink checker for backlinks.

Would like to know how often and how deep your crawlers go?

I have a site with 8,500 pages, updated every day with say 10-20 new posts.

Could you tell me what I should expect to see?

Our crawlers are going as deep as needed. They are limited to crawl around 100-200 pages a day (first crawl is limited to 10.000 pages so it could be possible your website will be crawled within first day).

Since your service is mostly blog comments, will Akismet ban on my site hinder performance? Would really love to know for sure.

Akismet could only ban your ability to post on others blogs - so i wouldn't worry about it.

Can you tell me how often are the pages crawled, and then the URL list updated?

And can you tell me how often are the links pinged?

For example - Would the site be crawled on Monday, Links posted on Tuesday, Pinged On Wednesday.
