Need Advice: Making a website and need low revenue

backstory: my wife and I make an average yearly salary. but this fall, im going back to college at the age of 31, and i dont want to work at the local gas station just to make ends met. i dont have a "million dollar pipline dream" i just want to make ends met.

so here goes; im considering making a news site (either for sports, tech or other good topics) using wordpress and a custom domain. and to break about even, i need to make about 50-60$ a day from ads (adsense,banners etc) this is really all i want. is this possible for an average almost-nerd? (my geek level: i know a few things about everything, not everything about a few things)

if 50-60$ a day is possible for an average guy like me, then i have a few followups:


1. is adsense the way to go, or is things link text links and banners better for these kinda sites?

2. can i make this kinda money from autoblogging, or is this a nono? (i know google will hate my site, so prolly no?)

3. automated RSS feeds?. also nono?

4. adwords or SEO?. if i have to pick one (i`d have to outsource the SEO i think) which one is more important?

remember that these questions are linked to the questions (50-60$a day in revenue)

if you think its not going to happen, what other kinda things can i do?

amazon afilliate page better? (using joomla + virtuemart for example)

pour your knowlegde over me BHW`ers!

yeah, i figured that aswell, i dont mind if it takes even longer time on it to get it to 60/day. what would you say is a reasonable adsense/day in 6 months up time, with good content on the site?

$60 a day is not a big deal.. However the methods that you are planning to do will not work now.

Autoblogs are obsolete, you need to create fresh and new content, go for adsense and work on SEO. (Yes, an average geek can do it himself).

Just learn some basics, and you can do it yourself. If you want some guidance pm me or skype me(skype same username)

BRO, in my suggestion go for the skills which you better in and do the service, if you can able to write good articles then go for it i bet you will get more than $1k/month easily if your are hardworking...
