Weird thing happening with 2 sites. is it PANDA??

2 days ago i had one of my sites that had the main domain ranking for 2 similar keywords drop off google. it has now come back at the bottom of first page with an inner-page now ranking at 10th.

then today i have had a few highly ranked keywords of a different site do the same but onto the second page around 15th. and another main keyword(the main one) has dropped to 80th.

this is some weird crap.

i have not had any notification in webmasters tools, am i just dancing or is this the new dreaded panda with claws??

is there any other way to tell if it is penalized.

now i have been doing some serious link building on the site including some SUPER SUPER high value links from 5 sites i have just built in the same niche which i built and got indexed about 2 weeks ago.

i do think it is a dance but these site are too valuable to take the chance. is anyone else experiencing this or similar over the last month???



i will add i had similar happen to a different site a month or more ago, where all terms totally disappeared out of top 100 for 15 days but then came back very slightly better. but this time its the way inner pages are appearing now in positions way off where they were

It might be google dance but beware of panda also. Some sites are being hit very hard on the head by latest panda update.

Also Matt Carter had a webinar on authority sites that was interesting. I never know how much of what these gurus tell us is very legit and what is hype so they can promote each other's "how to build Panda Proof" websites and do SEO on them but from what they all seem to be saying Internet Marketing is going to continue to drastically change this year and beyond.

Essentially much of the black hat type of tactics will not work as well, thin affiliate sites will continue to lose value and only well laid out "authority" sites with good content, diverse back linking and legit social media integration will do well.

no different hosting accounts, separate ip addresses and whois guard on them. they all have 100% unique content written specific to the keyword i am targetting with the site(altho they are only for backlinks nothing more)

honestly i do not use any blackhat tactics(i dont consider amr blackhat), all the links are contextual, high authority blogroll(about 50 pr0-pr5 websites), some social thrown in for good measure. unique web 2.0 and these new backlinks i just being being niche specific websites linking back to the main sites.

i also massively under optimise my onpage seo after getting hit once before with a filter for using too many H1 tags with my keywords in them, but which i fixed and regained the ranks.

the more i think about it the more i think its just the dance if in 15 days im not climbing again or recovered i will have to consider i have a penalty.

It's hard to say bro, Goog is shakin things up right now pretty consistently. I'm small potatoes and hope the best for you. I've had some de-rankings or penalties starting in October and it's been hard to recover but I'm pretty lazy so not a good example of hard work.

Let me give you an example. I have 2 sites in one niche, last year oct was one of the worst panda ever, one of the site got pandalised, why? I was told by the google employee on the forum that the site was a door way site and the most worst affliate door way site ever, while the rest of the page 1 sites got untouched same kind of sites like my 2 sites

The other site, same templates, same hosting, same seo strategy, practically same thing got untouched.

I left the pandalised site and did nothing, guess what new panda this years, the last year pandalised site was ressurected and started ranking.

So what the? Just continue what the hell you were doing before, study your site properly, find duplicate content remove some pages that you think are not necessary to be on your site.

And robot.txt is your friend to exclude pages you dont want in google index.

I dont listen to any experts if i did that i would still be making fuck all online listening to all the people who think they know best.

Its just a worrying time when one of your biggest earning sites suddenly looses 60% of traffic overnight. I have seen this on other sites but then with this big panda shitting all over the place you never know what is going on.

I think i need to give it at least 2 weeks from today before making any sort of determination. its only happened today after all.

yes this is what im seeing also.

just checked another EMD i have and the same thing has happened there. dopped. 8-9 places in the serps in last day from being number 1. and for the main EMD term a internal page is now showing on page 2 and not the domain.

Same thing is happening to me also. My 1.5 year old authority site was ranking #7 for a keyword with 500K exact searches and all of the sudden it dropped down to #200+ , then came back to 6 and today it's completely gone. The same thing happened to 5-6 more keywords.

Some inner pages also are ranking higher than main page. All of this started a few days ago. I also used private blogs for backlink building.

My traffic went down for about 70% and i'm going nuts as I spent a LOT of time on writing unique content and a lot of money on SEO

That's interesting because Matt Carter and his guest speaker Lisa talked about this on a webinar the other day. They talked about how EMD are not going to be as effective anymore unless it is a true authority site.

Wow! That sucks about EMD's, but I guess we have proof that that is true! Even when you try and do things right Google screws you.

I am now only earning from one site - total earnings are down to about $10 per day. I was averaging just over $60 - some days I would have $100 some only $20. Now I haven't had a $20 day in almost two weeks.

Time to get some new shit in motion!! You have to always keep a pot or two boiling on the stove just in case....

If anyone see their site return please update here, it will provide hope for others. I am slowly building quality Tier 2 links, all High PR and Manual, with 2 articles per week. I'm blasting those pages with crappy links. Little by little every day. Hopefully this will make them come back.

I'm seeing the exact same thing with a couple of my EMD thin sites. EMDs are starting to lose value unless they have an authority type setup. I'm testing a bunch of stuff like that right now. I'm pretty much just going for authority site with good content at this point.

just a small update.

i track my sites rankings daily so heres finding so far.

it appears that the sites are jumping around a bit, and when i just ran my rank check i found i was back to number 1 position for 1 keyword for google.com but checking manually seems to show nothing. i have also seen the rankings return and disappear again for 2 or 3 of the less valuable keywords over the last couple of days also.

So conclusions: i do think it is just the dance but to be sure i have been doing a hugley diverse link building campaign accross the sites that have been hit. placing raw url links around a few sites and done some social bookmarking to the main page and inner pages plus brought a hundred or so web 2.0 properties.

i have also continued posting articles via amr with a large degree of varied anchors plus raw urls.

i cant believe i am the only one this is happening too, would expect to see a lot more people in this thread with similar experience.

I would add that based on different sites that have been holding rankings recently with next to no work that article dirs have been devalued even more or maybe its just contextual links have had a bit more devaluation.
