I need to know as I would like to use it's harvesting feature to find other blogs related to my niche and then manually comment on them (Pure white hat Seo).
I just don't want to get slapped by google in the process.

Also, does it have other uses for strictly white hat Seo?

Thanks

I use it mainly for white hat, use it for research. However i have used it for serp bubbling and it worked well. They are always updating it, lots of free addons, a great little tool and worth the money.

Scrapebox has a million possible uses (black/grey/white hat)

Harvesting related blogs, filtering them by PR and then using the list to manually comment (full white hat) is one of them :)

scrapebox is not only for black hat, you can also use it for white hat purpose like finding high pr backlinks to manually post related comment on.

harvesting function of this software can be used as pure white hat

agree, the option to filter by PR is great and saves alot of time. You can then remove the PR N/A or whatever page rank you like in fact. I however even tend to post on PR N/A through the fast poster function aswell.

Scrape box is a research and development tool. Nothing more. A very powerful one. That's all. With a bunch of really great features. But that's really about it. Well, I mean they update it constantly, and once you start playing with it you get all these crazy ideas to try to use....

But its just a tool. A useful one though... Seriously you could

It's a keyword research tool. It's an identity protection tool. It's a link checker and PR checker tool.

scrapebox doesn't sandbox people, people sandbox people

I never got why hand spamming was somehow white hat yet using a program to do the same thing is suddenly black hat.

Using a program to blast fake/irrelevant comments on blogs in the sole aim of getting backlinks is blackhat.

Handwriting a useful and relevant comment on a blog after reading a post is not spamming, it is discussion. Dropping a link to your website while filling the form "your name: your website: your email:" while you comment is a common practice among the bloggers community.

Of course finding high PR blog and pretending to be interested to post a relevant comment with your link is somehow greyhat if you wish, but it looks like whitehat ;)

See the difference ? :)

My best backlinks were blogs I found that no one posts to through random scraping for my keyword and manually going through the site. I don't really care about the follow or pr as long as I can actually post something that makes sense in my field. I am the only comment most of the time and they are auto approve. But I am sure spam would be taken off in a second.

Its a great research tool as well, use the addons of it!

I recommend you use the search button and look up some of the good SB threads.

Except for the fact that the end result is essentially the same, as is the reason for posting, and if the auto-comments aren't unnatural sounding then I don't see what the difference is. You can't look at a comment and be sure rather it was made by hand or by a program unless the person leaves a full rebuttal, and at that point its a waste of time IMHO. Besides, I believe that in Google's eyes both are actually black hat.

And it suddenly dawns on everyone ITT: we realize that marketing in and of itself isn't the cleanest business, with white and black hats essentially becoming a matter of perspective and semantics.

The reason black hat techniques work is because they're perceived as white hat. (good proxies bleach everyone's hat)

True (read: TRUE) black hat is straight up breaking the law, not just going around a TOS.

Posting...hell...SPAMMING isn't even black hat (posting to unnecessary n0f0ll0w if you link to too many d0f0ll0w will be rewarded by Google as being more "natural"), nor is sending bogus email (allow for opt-out and you're ok...).

So, in the end, what is the crux of the issue?: perspective and self preservation

OP, wanna know what's black hat? Getting caught. Otherwise, you're known as a "professional."

I can say from my experience with Scrapebox that it really worth the price, it is the best tool ever.

To search relevant links. Filtering them with PR and script, RSS submitter, manual poster. To check baclinks (Not working this time). Best ever tool in this price ;)

The Addons tools in scrapebox is very great for your white hat seo work.
