Have You Ever Found Yourself Lost with 10s of keywords? You Didn't Know Which One To Pick! And Always Wondered How To Detect a "Profitable" Keyword?

In this Guide you will learn how to look at the keywords and what are the factors to consider.

It's a good start to take a look at [PART I] http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/379346-guide-how-find-micro-niche-emd.html

As you go through Part I and apply every step in it you will end up with several keywords with available EMDs. And now we can start with Part II "How To Pick Your Keyword?"

First let's see how Google categorizes the search queries "keywords".

As the above image suggests, there are 3 types of keywords

Do Keywords: where the user has the intent to DO something (ex. play sudoku)

Know Keywords: where the user is looking for information (ex. how to remove candle wax from carpet)

Go Keywords: where the user want to navigate to specific page (ex. fiverr support, facebook login)

Now which of these type do you consider profitable? Can you arrange these types from the most profitable to the least profitable?

Yes, that's right! Do keywords are the most profitable keywords as the user has the intent to do an action, and then comes the know keywords and lastly the go keywords (which have no use for us).

Please note that some keywords might fall under more than one category

Now go and categorize your keywords by type.

You categorized your keywords, didn't you? OK, it's time check for the competition.

To check the competition we will need:
  • Traffic Travis
  • MajesticSEO (in deep analysis of the backlinks)

We will use Traffic Travis to get a rough look at the competition, the top 20 URLs, PR, On-Page SEO, Number of backlinks.

Let's demonstrate with an example ;)

I found this keyword

"leggings online"
2900 Global Exact Searches per month
.org EMD Available
High Adwords Competition (refer to PART I if you don't know the difference between Adwords and SEO competition)
---what type do you think this keyword is?---

Now let's run it through Traffic Travis

Traffic Travis sees the competition as "Relatively Easy"

As you can see,
  • None of the top 20 sites have the keyword in the domain.
  • All got Poor on-page SEO for the targeted keyword
  • All Got low PR (0-4)
  • The top 10 results got 2xPR0

Now we have a general idea about the competition for this keyword we can go to the next step.

Analyzing the top 5-10 with MajesticSEO

For demonstration purpose I'll only analyze one URL.
I'm using the free version which is enough for most of your researches.

OK, So I'll be analyzing the first result for our keyword
Code:
onlyleggings.com PR3

Now you have deeper look at you competitor's backlinks.

By now you got deep look at the competition PR, on-page SEO, backlinks. It's time to ask yourself this question,

Do I have the
  1. Resources
  2. Time
  3. Money
  4. Knowledge
To climb my way up the SERP?

If your answer is No, go back and repeat the steps with another keyword.
BUT
If you said Yes, then its time to register your domain, buy your host and wait for "[GUIDE PART III] How To Optimize Your On-Page SEO And Write Content That Convert"

Do you use Traffic Travis 3 or Traffic Travis 4 for your research.

I'm using TT4 Pro (available in download section in case someone doesn't know), you can use whatever software or version you feel comfortable with, the idea is to gather some rough information about the top 10-20 sites so you have an idea about the competition
