How to remove the spam from my blog?

Recently I launched a new blog but I am worried how to remove the spam comments because there are hundred of comments daily and making my blog look like chineses content.

Looking for positive replies here thanks in advance

This ^^ alone will get rid of probably 99.5% of spam.
Enable it, update it and delete every existing comment en masse.

Askimet is amazing, although, unless you always monitor your blogs , i wouldn't always check that box you mentioned, if you have a high traffic blog that gets some clean comments and you don't constantly check it, it can be ennoying, Askimet usually can be left alone, and if there's a case of it still being spammed, take that measure.

You can either turn your comments off or install the popular akismet, it really works.

Disabling a comment is an option or u can moderate the comments since there are few good comments you will get though.....

You should do the following to remove the spam infection entirely from your wordpress blog.

1. If you've found the folder called .files, delete it and it's contents immediately.
2. Look through your other directories for hidden/unknown directories that contain spammy .html files.
3. Look through your directories for any "trigger" .php files. (The bad guys seems to be injecting goofy named .php files, such as kip.php, fwwkd.php, etc).
4. Also search through your .php files for any code that starts with base64_decode and remove it. But make sure you don't remove the genuine .php wordpress files, search with file name on google before deleting it to find more information around the same.

I can vouch for that. Im doing the same thing and it works like a charm.

Askimet all the way dude. Got a blog with 3000 spam comments and they all have been blocked. Occasionally I check them but there just spam
