Is auto-mated linkbuilding illegal?

Im developing a quick and dirty link wheel/pyramid auto-mation program and I became uncertain about where the line is drawn.

Can someone please clarify which of the following are illegal/legal and to what extend (all is 100% auto-mated):
1. Crawling google for related blogs/sites that accept comments and automatically submit a random comment + backlink (to 4).

2. Crawl google for related forums, create & verify account, create a thread with some (spun) text + backlink (to 4).

3. Crawl the internet and collect a ton of e-mail addresses and send them a link. (Im pretty sure this one is very illegal)

4. Crawl non-copyrighted article databases and identify related articles. Auto-spin with the best spinner and post to different article submission sites with backlink (to $$ site).

The law will be different from country to country, please answer in connection with US.

(Im using proxies for all crawling/posting, don't worry )

Final note on overall project idea: Input a list of keywords pointing to each page and a starting value for "posts per day". Execution plan: Create the spun article with link to $$ site. Crawl for blogs/sites and make comments untill "posts per is accomplished". Then wait for tomorrow and repeat with (starting value * 1.5). The idea is to slowly build pyramids or linkwheels per day and point them to money site.

#3 is legal IF you follow some rules. I believe you just need to provide valid contact information and a working unsubscribe link. #4 is legal if your assumption of "non-copyrighted" is correct. (Almost EVERYTHING is copyrighted, even if it's distributed under a very generous license.) If not, it could technically be a copyright violation for using copyrighted content outside the terms of license, but I don't know if anyone submitting to article directories is willing to take you to court. #1 and #2 are perfectly legal as far as I know.
