Google's panda algorithm is a recent change in the way they rank website's that focus's a great deal on quality.

What they started doing is having bots track a number of people. It would track their actions and the way they acted on certain websites. Google learned to see through human eyes with their bot's, that's why quality of a site means a lot more now. So when a bot show's up at your website, it now starts off with a human point of view.

How to beat it, what they are putting heavy weight on.

1. How heavy your template footprint is.

Notice that there is hardly any original content above the fold, that means there is much more template than content. The rest of the content on the page is duplicate content. PENALTY

2. Pages with empty content

Like a page you are directing to another website, or one with a few sentences that directs to another website. Or simply an empty page that only contains advertising. PENALTY in quality.

3. Having multiple different pages for one keyword.

Most of us are guilty of this, you want to target a given keyword to get to the top! but google now see's right through this. 1 quality page targeting 1 keyword is all you need.

PENALTY

4. High add ratio

This goes for any add, adsense and adzilla! If you have a high add ratio it is a PENALTY in the eyes of Panda, though adsense will encourage it, only to bust the marketer's.

5. Affiliate Links & Robot Generated Content

1 affiliate link, okay that seems legit.. 1 in the header, 1 in the body, 1 in the sidebar, another in the sidebar, 2 in the footer? PENALTY. As of right now there is no bot that can generate content smart enough to throw off the google bots. Until that wonderful day comes its better to stay away from it, and focus on quality content because you get rated for it.

Are you breaking any of these rules? if so, that is one reason your having trouble ranking. This is the future of the internet, so i would start practicing it!

Thanks for reading, comment if you disagree or have anything to add. Lets begin rolling out the good quality! :toilet13:

Thanks dude. Thank GOD I have NONE of those penalties. NOW, time for #1 rankings!:D

i might agree with this, because the #1 spot in our keywords has only 100+ backlinks and not a high quality backlink. He beats the 12k+ backlinks but he has a good quality content.

I agree with this study. I found some points that I was guilty of a couple of weeks back, fixed them blindly (had no idea what I was doing). Now I am still guilty of maybe 3, which I am going to fix right now.

Thanks for this awesome study. Keeping you in mind for a future content writing gig :D

You are right, I agree with that.

To avoid affiliate penalty I using simply .php redirect

I would add Page Speed. I had a few problems with my hosting company in the past months and watching the graphs on google analytics it were almost identical to my dance in serps.

Enklave : Do you think that a php redirect saves you from penalty How so? I use a affiliate link cloaker, but still got hit pretty hard.

If you ad no follow to your aff links? No good?

What do you mean by template footprint? I mean you can't change the design of your site, and where the "home" link is placed? Or do you only mean the content thats not above the fold?

Anyways very interesting read! Thanks

Very nice tutorial but there is muuuch much more in terms of on-page optimisation. Maybe one day I will spend some time to pull everything together and create some nice tutorial...

Means there should be more emphasis on content than sidebars and ads
as for the no follow to your aff links, i have not learned about this yet. I think google might be smarter than we think..

this post isnt about on-page optimisation, only about quality. thankyou for adding though!

Nonsense, i haven't written a single word manually, ever.
My content is absolutely rubbish, non readable. You are giving google W A Y to much credit here.

I'm also earning around 12-15 times the salary of anyone with a normal job over here, to beat your statement.
