I recently got to know a website that pays you, as a server owner, for running their ads on the welcome page, called MOTD (Message Of The Day). They pay per thousand impressions, CPM, but the rate is kinda too low, it's about $1.5 per 1000 impressions. I'm not affiliated with this site, you can check it out here.

The current supported games are:

• Team Fortress 2
• Counter-Strike: Source
• Day of Defeat: Source
• Left 4 Dead 2
• Half Life 2: Multiplayer
• Nuclear Dawn

Perhaps not every marketer will be able to earn money from this source but it could be something for someone with some popular gameservers.

Getting traffic to a blog is much easier than getting players to a game server. Some of my friends own CS 1.6 servers and they play alone all the time on their servers. layball:
